Contempt of Parliament?

Clare Curran has alleged corruption in parliament in a Tweet.

There is a good chance that this constitutes a contempt of parliament.

Contempt

She followed it up with this tweet bringing the Speaker under direct attack.

Add Trevor Mallard to the contempt:

I reckon Dave Carter is doing a bloody good job, seeing he has only been in a few months, but the same old idiots still try to bring disorder.

    • Balanced View

You have to be kidding. He is blatantly biased.

      • GazzW

He must have had lessons from Margaret Wilson.

        • Meg

So 2 wrongs make a right do they?

        • mike

She was the pits… sure Carter ain’t as good as Smith, but he’s getting better.

          • Meg

Getting worse more like it. And now enabling protection and corruption.

          • mike

Don’t be like Mallard or Peter’s and just slander people… prove it.

          • Meg

Carter is allowing an MP keep leadership funds that he is not allowed. There is no UF party at the moment, he is not the leader of a registered political party so should not be getting leadership funding.

Instead Carter is allowing tax payer money go to an Independent MP.

I am not a fan of Winston, but he has it right this time.

          • mike

Rubbish, Winny is grandstanding (as usual) and Labour is just trying to deflect attention away from the real issues (because they have nothing substantive to deal with them).
The comparisons made by Labour and NZF yesterday are absurb, they are comparing this issue with the ones where someone left their party… Dunne hasn’t left UF, he is UF, he was the leader of UF when elected and under standing orders that means UF is a party in Parliament. Come next election if UF still does not have the membership then if Dunne wants to stand he will have to stand as an Independant.
Again show us the law which backs your point of view.

      • Col

So who do you think should be or should have been speaker of the house?.

      • Cadwallader

        No! You are “blatantly biased.”

      • Bunswalla

        Hilarious moniker, Mr Completely Unbalanced

    • Meg

David Carter has done an awful job, and today demonstrated how bias, and boarderline currupt he is.

      • Col

Hi Meg, nice to see you here, I thought Carter was doing a good job, but then again I m not always right, as I asked someone else today, who do they think would be a better speaker in the house, they have not replied, who would you recommend if he was not the speaker?
        look forward too your reply.

I love how Labour/Greens are getting ZERO traction with their silly games, so they get more and more hysterical…lets run a sweep on who’ll be the first to have an absolute meltdown…

    • kehua

Laugh as we do at these fuckwits playing `politics` I see the `good cop-bad cop `strategy with Norman suddenly finding some `mongrel` and old mumbles just keeps on mumblin`. I believe this is their idea of widening their appeal, why else would a peacdelovin, tree hugging hippy sudenly start mouthing off like the town wannabee toughguy?

    • Meg

If speaking out about an independent MP receiving money he is not legally entitled to is silly games

      • mike

He isn’t an independent though, when he was elected into Parliament he was the leader of a recognized party. The speaker is giving them a chance to rectify a technical issue which is fair and just… something I’m aware the current crop of Labour/Greens members/supporters don’t believe in.

        • Meg

His party has been deregistered, there is no United Future party at this point in time. He is an independent.

          • mike

Was UF a registered party at the last election? Yes
Was Peter Dunne the leader of that party? Yes
Then according to Standing Order 34(1) UF is recognised by Parliament as a party even if that party no longer exists.

If you believe this is incorrect please point out the ruling

          • Pissedoffyouth

            Facts yay!

          • Meg

Standing orders, also quoted in the house today, state for a party to be a party it needs to be registered.

They are not, Dunne is not a leader of a current party and not entitled to funds.

            Yay facts.

I also will say that if this was Hone and Carter allowed Hone to keep the leadership money you lot would be calling for blood.

          • mike

Really, can you show me which section of the standing orders (follow my link above) you are referring to please…

          • pukakidon

Dont you look like a complete liarbour fool again Meggy

          • Meg

Only to the supporters of this incompetent Speaker.

        • Sponge

I suspect we have seen the last of Meg in this thread.

          • mike

Damn facts, always getting the way of a good whinge!

          • Sponge

Agreed. The left are like slugs and salt – they just don’t work together.

          • Meg

I think you mean the right and truth.

          • Sponge

            No. Left and truth.

This should be apparent even to you.

          • Meg

It is a pity you lot do not call on facts, rather run to protect someone collecting tax payer money they do not deserve.

          • mike

I have used facts and supported my argument (and that of the speakers) with the Standing Orders of Parliament… you on the other hand have not provided any evidence to support your claim, and have instead gone with the “sky is falling” approach to politics so favoured by the left.
Show us your facts or shut up.

      • Dumrse

What happened to your crusade against fucking Winston’s $158k debt? Pick something worth while to bitch about.

        • mike

She is just following Labour’s policy… make a big fuss about subject 1, when the public discovers that you are full of poos forget all about subject 1 and move onto subject 2… rinse and repeat.

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Zero traction? Which planet are you in? Check out the last Roy Morgan poll. They will be the government in 2014.

      • mike

You are a funny man Sir Cullen

  • JeffDaRef

Check out this little piece of gold I stumbled across…

That is Gold mate esp Crusher chipping in

  • Guest

You have got to be kidding? He is blatantly biased.

  • johnbronkhorst

“On the Peter Dunne registration issue Winston Peters says its a shabby day for democracy and Trevor Mallard says its corruption.”
    A fine pair to talk.

    • Whafe

The old rocks in glasshouses hey. Oxygen thieves the pair of them

    • Meg

And yet they are 100% correct.

Peter Dunne is now an independent MP, not a party leader and not entitled to the money he is getting.

      • johnbronkhorst

and if as he says, he delivers the numbers next week?

        • Meg

Then he gets to be leader of an actual party.

Until he comes up with the numbers, he is not entitled to the money he is getting.

Carter is protecting Nationals mates. Corruption is tightening its grip on the NZ Parliament.

          • johnbronkhorst

            BOLLOCKS

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Nothing will happen. Let us not waste any time. Greens and Labour cannot be prosecuted for anything. This is a universal fact.

  • flashman

Is this where MPs think they can say what they like outside Parliament, as well as inside it?

    • mike

God no, they never say things like this is public where they are subject to the law!

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

By now you should have realised they are above the law

        • mike

As Judge Dredd says “I am the Law”

          • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Learning fast my friend. My frustration is Labour and Greens can get away with anything and they know National wouldn’t do dirty politics and the MSM won’t care. So now they are in the next phase of attack on John Key’s government to get some cheap publicity.

          • mike

Would be nice if there was such a thing as a MSM that actually reported the facts and not just opinion.

Bring back the days of ethical journalism.

  • TomTom

One reason why I avoid South Dunedin – that fucking lot voted for her.

  • Michael

Is this the same party that sat idly by over Winston’s blatant lies to the electoral commission? Or carried on with the pretense that the Alliance was lead by Jim Anderton when he had set up the Progressives? Couldn’t be the same party could it?

  • Harroputza

If an MP tweets something from inside Parliament, is that covered by parliamentary privilege?

  • Whafe

I was never allowed to say the word hate growing up…
But seriously, I hate Liabour + Green Taliban more and more each day that passes….
Am I correct in that this cluster fuck that is Liabour + Green Taliban is going to disintegrate and explode or implode….
The whole lot of them make me question any faith I have in these idiots sucking on the tit in the bee hive

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

What about Jumbo Jimmy Anderton remaining as Alliance Leader inside the house while Alliance as a party didn’t exist outside? Where was Winnie the Poo at that time?

    • mike

That was different, completely different… you just don’t understand!

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

I know Mike, I am trying to point out the hypocrisy of the let wing nutters here. Jumbo was milking public money, here the speaker is giving time for Done Deal Dunne to sort out the issue.

        • mike

Was my sarcasm too subtle :-)

I’m appalled with the tactics that the opposition is using at the moment, and with Shearers pathetic politics… he really needs a new question the whole “do you stand by all your statements?” and then asking specific questions is just plain ignorant.

I don’t agree with everything the Nat’s have done, nor the way the have gone about it, but until such a time as there is a realistic and sensible opposition that doesn’t want to throw my savings down the drain and ruin my families future then I’ll stick with them.

I’m not a rich prick, I am a blue collar worker, single income, two kids and a mortgage. I am the average kiwi battler and at least under National I have a chance to make my life better… under a Labour/Greens government I’d be taxed to death in order to support the unions and bludgers who don’t want to do anything to help this country.

          • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Yes Mike, I didn’t pick it up. I was about to label you a rich prick and add to my tax register :-)

          • Sponge

SCS – I used my last dollars on lotto and the 3rd at Trentham today (fucking glue bag) – can I please come off the rich prick list?

          • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Let me talk to Sheep and Hippie tonight and consider your request. Might help if you speak to Tuatara.

          • mike

Lol… I want to be a rich prick, does that count?

  • Troy

The Speaker should have recalled Mallard fuckduck, and the entire NZF Caucus and named the whole fucking lot of them. They want to play hard ass? Well, the Speaker can too… but will he???
