Labour’s New Direction – 65 Days to Go

David Farrar notes it is 65 days to go till spring…time for a daily countdown post.

Yesterday Shearer dismissed the talk of a leadership battle.

“There is going to be me leading Labour into the election in 2014,” he said.

“I can absolutely and utterly assure you of that. It’s a very united caucus.”

Except for the ones talking to Pedro and Corin.

I took the liberty of mimicking their own ads from their website.

    New direction? like offshore.

    • Patrick

New direction? He’d have more luck joining One Direction

  • Col

It is true, he must lead his party, as no one else is good enough, but no one wants this position this side of the election do they ?

  • thor42

**I** can give them a “new direction”.

Out of Parliament and off to Antarctica.

  • Rodger T

Shearer is doing fine right where he is.

    • Troy

Absolutely agree on that… Shearer is a fine leader and will successfully lead the Liabour party to another term in opposition – can’t see anything wrong with that.

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

        Finally Troy speaks the truth….

Here is the messiah Sheep, hitting a nail on National’s coffin:

    “We need a different path.

We need to fight for the future we want.

One where we make a real difference to people’s lives.

We have always been the Party of new ideas.

When it mattered throughout our history, we’ve been willing to use the power of government to give the country what it needs to move ahead.

New Zealand needs to use that power once more. And under my leadership, we will.” – Sheep inspiring speech in November 18, 2012 Labour Conference. If you read the full speech, you will realise how good this man is.

    • Pete George

“We have always been the Party of new ideas.”

He’s right about that. This is a totally new idea:

“David’s got a couple more months.”

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

You know heart of heart nothing will happen to Sheep in two months’ time. So let us stop this and get on with life….

        • FredFrog

Here’s hoping you’re right on that one. With sheep in charge, the rest of us in this country who have half a brain need not worry about liarbore and the watermelons having a hope in the next elections.

          • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Exactly – leave Sheep alone for National to win in 2014.

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

At the end of 65 days, nothing will happen and I can have a good laugh about that bros.

  • steve and monique

Direction= backwards .65 days to a new leader of Labour

  • Pete George

“I can absolutely and utterly assure you of that. It’s a very united caucus.”

Did you see him shaking his head as he said that? He already looks defeated.

    • Whafe

Shearer couldn’t lie straight in bed, the man is as bent as a rusty as an old hairpin

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Bros – those who want to have a good laugh watching hopeless Sheep being slaughtered by John Key in Leaders’ debate, please give me a vote UP :-) and take a pledge to leave Sheep alone until next election.

  • Lofty

It is of no consequence who leads the Labour Party, Shearer or Cunliffe it makes no difference, it is a battle between veiled communism and freedom. Simple.

“The choice facing the nation is between two totally different ways of life. And what a prize we have to fight for: no less than the chance to banish from our land the dark, divisive clouds of Marxist socialism and bring together men and women from all walks of life who share a belief in freedom.”

    RIP Maggie.

There are not many Labour MP’s that have leadership potential…
Shearer is a “nice” guy who choses diplomacy over hard action… I cant see him last.
Robertson seems to be playing the “Dead Meat” role without realising it.
David Parker needs to bugger off.
Ahern is a possible leader, if the idea that “Sex Sells” is true…
Cosgrove… I remember dealing to a wanker with a 4×2 who acted like him once…
King is too “Shipley”-ish, and nobody wanted that! (Even tho Jenny is an icon).
Goff has proved over too many decades that he is a fuckwit!
Fenton has her heart in the right place and her mind elsewhere…
“Silent T” has shown us all what you DONT vote for…
Louisa Wall has a spine, and has a brain (Rather strange for a rugby forward…) but will she be able to lead her country at politics like she led NZ at sport???

Love him or hate him, I have a fair bit of respect for Trevor “The Duck” Mallard! Anyone who is prepared to state his mind, and back it up with genuine passion is worthy in my book! Tau Henare and (probably) a few others are still reelling from his passion!

To be perfectly honest, if The Duck took over from Shearer, Key and Co would (possibly literally) have a genuine fight on their hands!

    • Manu

I tentatively agree. Mallard would be a force to be reckoned with! This is why the right wing are doing whatever it takes to discount him!

      • Lofty

Mallard a force to be reckoned with eh!

You are kidding yourself..he would be torn to pieces, a bully and thug are easily dealt too.

Easy to look tough in opposition and leave a trail that allows himself to
be shown up at every opportunity as being the philandering, bullying lightweight that he is.

        No contest!

  • LesleyNZ

Looks like Labour is leading in the by-election. If they win David Shearer will feel like a credible leader. Apparently he was out door knocking till at least 6:30pm.
