WhaleTech: Smartphone Condom

I spent a considerable amount of time in the rain yesterday needing to use my phone,  and it wasn’t a happy experience.  So I looked for a solution to it today, and what would you know?

Smartskin Condoms for Smartphones‘ are sheaths made from soft and stretchy thermoplastic that cover your device to protect it. The skins slip on and stretch to fit, and sealing tabs are provided to stick over the remaining area.

The water-resistant plastic wraps are useful if you need to use your phone out in the rain or want to use it at the beach, without worrying about water or sand damaging it.

You never know when you’ll get lucky… enough to take your phone to the beach, or on a boat, or cycling in the rain, or driving a rally car, or riding a camel in the desert. But thanks to the sleek and stretchy Condoms for Smartphone, you’ll never have to say no to an unexpected bit of excitement again.

Keep them in your wallet for that special situation or emergency occasion, and know that your smartphone has protection at a moment’s notice.

Have any of you found a “Kiwi no8 wire” solution to this?  3 disposable condoms at about USD$20 plus freight doesn’t appeal to me, but the concept obviously works.

Would love to know if some of you have your own smartphone raincoats.

Gladwrap. Plug headphones in first, put face down and fold it the back. Still fits in armband too, and tight fit on screen means its easy to use

    • I’ll try that out, thanks.

speaking of condoms. I was looking for a good playground given the weather today. Mcdonalds would be wrapped at what comes up second in the searches.

Merry Bird (asia) does a cheap alternative to SmartSkin which sells out of Australia on Ebay. Never met someone who has the phone skin though, most choose to opt for the waterproof cases.

Awful. Sexualising a Smartphone. Can’t they think of any other name other than condom………………

Motorola defy – you can even take a video underwater with it

Going fishing with my smart phone I use a single sandwich box from Sistema (a good kiwi co). This takes two phones and is totally waterproof – it even floats which means that I can retrieve them for my master – something about “fetch” seams to satisfy him. Woof Woof.
