Give us a clue? Alaska, Canada?

  • CJA

    Norway would be my guess.

Not sure it’s Gudvangen, despite some sites attributing the photo to being Gudvangen. It’s just that the layout of the town, streets etc doesn’t square with what’s on Google Maps/Earth for Gudvangen.

It’s Reine, in the Lofoten Islands off the coast of Norway.

Don’t bother looking in Google Earth … it’s just big big pixels.

oops yip it’s Reine. Hamnoy’s just across the bridge to the right. My bad. Lovely place, except the bus drivers were on strike when we were there.
There were some F-16s based at Bodo at that time and they flew sorties out towards the Islands. For those who care about that sort of thing, Bodo was the takeoff point for Francis Gary Powers’ ill-fated U-2 flight, it also has an air museum with an old U-2 hanging from the ceiling.

Hamnoy, Lofoten Islands, Norway. Was there on my honeymoon in 98. Middle of summer and a full on blizzard.
