Fairfax censorship? This is the song they withdrew

This song, from Day Above Ground, called ‘Asian Girlz’, is making all the news all over the world and has more than one million views on Youtube in just 3 days.

Fairfax even had a story about it yesterday…but have now taken the story down. Why is that? Are they censoring news?

Here is a screen shot from Google of their article in the search results.stuff

But clicking on it gets a 404.

So why have they pulled it? Was it Outrage? Complaints? Or just plain old censorship?

Not one to ban things, here it is for your viewing pleasure. [WARNING: NSFW Lyrics]

Apparently it is racist…but if we can ban Asians from buying property here can we really say this song is racist when it is a bunch of white blokes expressing their preference for Asian girls?

Perhaps it isn’t racist after all, and actually misogynist?

What do you think?

Doesn’t really matter whether it’s racist or misogynist, worst of all is that it’s downright boring!

  • Michael

It blows… They can’t sing, can’t write a tune. It was annoying.

  • Col

Looking at these first 2 comments, that is boring, tell the true, the body was great, or do you need glasses? You can take it or leave it the music, I thought it was ok.

is better with the sound off

      • Mark

Is that Steve or Monique writing that?

        • Mr_Blobby

          Steve is Monique

Only on Fridays when he pulls on the fishnets :-)

  • Phill

As Fairfax has decided that anything with the word “Asian” contained in it is racist and must be pulled….can we do the same for anything containing the word “Maori” also?
……..oh hang on…..Media make up the rules as they go…..

Interesting. I note the regional newspaper from my hometown on stuff has a habit of double-posting stories under different headers, or moving then to a different section of the paper. Big deal, you say? But the comments made on those stories are either hidden or lost when this happens. I have seen it done a couple of times when I have commented and then seen the comments lost after appearing. It could all be an “administrative error” but there is no way to prove that.

Similar to some art which only gets exposure because its “edgy” or ” controversial”.

    You can’t polish a turd.

Must have missed something. The song is boring and the band is crap.

But, can and do highly recommend Asian women over the locals with all there baggage.
