Will Shearer leave parliament?

shearer

David Shearer must be a broken man, even if he is on full pay while on gardening leave. TV3 revealed that his supposed caucus mates let him leap in front of the proverbial bus so they could knife him the next day.

Betrayal wouldn’t be too strong a word for what they did to him.

If I was in his place the very first thing that I would give to the new Labour leader would be the gift of an expensive by-election.

After his success negotiating with warlords in Somalia and working in Mogadishu and Iraq… there’s a soon-to-be position opening up in Syria.

Hello Helen, Chris, Charles?

Bet he’s talking about it. Especially when the most vicious attack came from his “friends”.

    • Euan Ross-Taylor

He’s just had a labotomy. He will go back down to Wellington where his ‘friends’ will all slap him on the back and tell him how good it is to see him back, and that he did the right thing. Will all be his ‘friends’ again (while knowing full well he has no supporters for him to raise a knife at anyones’ back.

  • Euan Ross-Taylor

My money is on this guy being so broken and spineless that he will stay on as a backbencher for the next 10 years. I reckon his family will want to stay in NZ. He’ll slip meekly back down to Wellington when the new leader is chosen and front media saying he supports the new leader 100%.

    • Euan Ross-Taylor

Thinking about it – He’ll probably get something like Spokesman for Transport.

      • Sooty

You mean just like Helen Clark had Harry Dynhoven on a Winz make work scheme in her government. He had at the time a personal following in New Plymouth and lost when the people wanted a change of goverment. Angry Little Andrew got found out he is just a little cunt.

      • cows4me

Perhaps he can head the ministry for the speech impaired.

        • Euan Ross-Taylor

To head a ministry, he would need to be in Government, and that aint going to happen! Were he to be Labours’ spokesman for such a ministry, ahhhhhhhhhhh ummmmmmmmm maybe.

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Ross-Taylor – Agreed 100%, nailed it on the head. I am thinking about giving the NZ cricket captaincy back to you….Sheep will cruise around like Rajen Prasad…shove the papers here and there, make a speech every now and then…life is sweet on tax payer money…

      • Euan Ross-Taylor

Not sure if an endorsement from you is really an endorsement at all! ;-)

      • tarkwin

He won’t be that visible, even as we speak he is morphing in to Alamein Kopu and planning on showing up about as often as Hone.

  • Whafe

More so, why on earth would he stay, as john B H mentions, I mean his so called friends took a huge steamy shit on him from a great height….
One thing it will show is if in fact hea has any support for the Liabour Party.

  • roxo

I think he should give them the expensive by-election, fuck having mates like that!
Key should then appoint him to a position that gives him power to crap all over them – at least he respected him as a nice guy – say head of investigating election expenses or such.

    • BJ

If he has any integrity and sense Shearer will ‘come out’ with the National mentality that he really has.

      • JeffDaRef

Do we have the right to decline his services?

  • Col

Leave him, and JK can slide him a few bits to keep him going, and we can have an insider.

  • All_on_Red

I hear what you are all saying. If it was me I’d burn the house down but I don’t think Shearer is like that. Actually now he has time, I think he will probably make a very good Electorate MP and serve the people of Mt Albert well.
Besides, in another 3-4 years who is to say he couldn’t become leader then….

    • Whafe

The key red on red is does David Shearer fully believe in the policies or direction of the Liabour Party? I have my doubts

  • Paul

He should leave the labour party and become an independent and get a ministerial portfolio and do the new leader the most harm by voting through Jamie-Lee’s bill and other anti labour but pro NZ ideas

    • Euan Ross-Taylor

      I like your thinking.

  • Ducky

Sheep should leave the Labia and be a Nat’s MP. That would be the best 2 fingers to his Ex colleagues.

    • Euan Ross-Taylor

I’ll think you’ll find the Nats require a bit of talent and ability as well as just being available.

      • FredFrog

They should allow it just this once. Would be a great pointed stick in the eye to labour, and prevent them from parachuting in the likes of horse-face or some other positive-discrimination candidate using Mt Albert

  • Bad__Cat

Nah, you forget, he’s a socialist! He’ll stay at the trough like Goff.

    • Salacious T Crumb

Yeah but a tax free, socialists haven like the UN? Its a sirens call to the average ex-Labour MP.

  • Patrick

He is going onto a war footing, going to be like watching the Rambo movies – after all this is a man who has stared down warlords all over the world.
Or could it be that all those back stories were a load of shit purely to build his brand?
I am betting he will take it up the khyber Pass, do what he is told & if he behaves Aunty Helen will reward him with a cushy number at the U.N. Exiting NZ at a time that enables Aunty to parachute in her replacement for his electorate. At this stage that looks like Jacinda but possibly some other hairy legged commie lessie is being lined up.

  • Auto_Immune

He should stay on and openly endorse the potential leader he likes the least, saying things like “He was my ideas man” and “Labour wouldn’t be where it is today without him”

    • lou

Nice! What he could do is drag the winner with him by endorsing him after the election by saying thing like that. Nothing like a poison chalice or a slightly suspect undersized snapper to bring somebody down …

This is brilliant, if you enjoy a good laugh at the oppositions expense.

  • rockape

Dont tell me Shearer is a broken man. This is the Hero who went Eye to eye with Somali war lords and faced them down. He is just biding his time, like the other tough guy arnie , He will be Back!

  • GregM

I think he should stay until the election. That gives him one year on a good salary, with no pressure, to work out where to from here. I wish him well for the future.
