America’s Cup 34. The last race. [Open Post]

Morning everyone.

From 8am TVNZ is streaming it here.

Peter Montgomery will be calling it live on Radio Sport here.

America’s Cup Virtual Eye is here.

To be truthful, when I started this live blogging gig on these races, I didn’t expect it would become such a burden, both in the commitment to be at my desk every time, and in the end, the utter disappointment that we’re probably not going to take that cup home.

One thing is for sure: ?If we get a race in today, one of the teams will have an Epic Win.

Let’s see how it unfolds.

We are on for a 8:15 start with ?18-22 knot winds.

TNZ have the port entry in this final race.

After an even start, Oracle slowly sped ahead but TNZ had the overlap so pushed Oracle away from the mark

TNZ rounded the mark 2 seconds ahead.

TNZ are ahead by 44m as it turns into an upwind drag race.

Halfway TNZ lead by a boat length keeping Oracle trapped.

TNZ round the mark with a 3 second lead, as they split onto different tacks

Oracle have an 80m lead, and will they cross when they meet?

Oracle had to pass behind TNZ, and both boats are doing at about the same speed.

Oracle have taken a slight lead and at the cross will have the right of way.

Oracle has crossed ahead of TNZ

Oracle are slowly getting ahead leading by about 40m one third up the beat to windward.

Judging by the races over the last week, TNZ will only be able to win this if Oracle have a crew or gear failure as Oracle slowly build their lead to 230m halfway down to mark 3.

Oracle lead by 26 seconds and about 500m at Gate 3.

Oracle head to the finish 39 seconds and 700m ahead of TNZ.

Good job to Team Oracle. ?To come from behind in this fashion will be a legendary story to be added to the America’s Cup History Books.
