Carnage as Grooming, Sxting Trougher quits

Well one little post and the carnage is massive.

It seems the Police are involved now. The Herald reports:

Police are looking into the actions of a Christchurch community board candidate who today withdrew from the election race after explicit images and messages he apparently posted were leaked online.

People’s Choice candidate for the Hagley-Ferrymead community board Paul Findlay has been shamed in what the Whale Oil blog says is New Zealand’s version of the Anthony Weiner ‘sexting’ scandals.

No complaint has yet been received by police, but they say they will investigate.

“Police have not received a formal complaint about the material, but are aware of the material that has been posted online,” said Detective Inspector David Long.

“An assessment is being completed as to whether any criminal offending may be involved. If this is established a criminal investigation will be commenced.”

Screenshots of the conversation suggest 27-year-old Mr Findlay had been talking with a 15-year-old girl.

Nope, it was a boy.

Radio Live also reports:

A Christchurch local body election candidate has suddenly pulled out of the race after explicit photographs and messages were leaked online.

Conversations on social media between 27-year-old Paul Findlay, the Hagley-Ferrymead candidate, and what appears to be a 15-year-old girl, have been released on Whaleoil’s blog.

He claims he made a comment in the heat of the moment.

The campaign manager for People’s Choice, which is affiliated to Labour, says he’s now withdrawn for the sake of his team.

Labour’s general secretary Tim Barnett says he hasn’t spoken to Mr Findlay about the incident, though he says, if the allegations are true, it is a concern for the Labour Party.

I’ve given interviews for TV3, OneNews, and Fairfax.

They all focus on whether or not this was a sting…and you know what? So what if it was….this ratbag sent pictures of his todger to an unknown person on the internet…is this the sort of risk taking, poor decisions making we need form our representatives…the answer is of course no.

I will out ratbags no matter their affiliation…this guy just happened to be Labour. Soon enough another fool will do thins and I will out them too.

NewstalkZB also covers the police angle:

Christchurch police are now looking into the actions of a local body candidate who sent sexually explicit messages to a minor.

A blog site has released a sexually fuelled conversation, along with images, between Hagley Ferrymead community board candidate Paul Findlay and a 15-year old.

The 27-year-old was standing in this year’s local body elections for People’s Choice and has now withdrawn.

Detective Inspector David Long says police have not received a formal complaint about the material, but are aware of the content.

He says an assessment is being completed as to whether any criminal offending has occurred.

He says if this is established, a criminal investigation will start.
