Basic fact checking astray at Campbell Live again

I t may b small beer but if you are going to slag off councillors for their lawns you could at least simple facts right…like who lives where. i wonder of Campbell Live will apologise for this cock up?

During the show they mixed up George Wood and Ann Hartley’s grass berms mixed up in their story tonight. (near end)

They described George’s as having a “5 O’clock shadow” and Ann’s as having a “case in personal grooming.”  Except they got it wrong.

It was Ann Hartley’s berm that needed a mow.

The story was pretty pathetic, because of all the places they visited, only two of them would have been affected. Cameron Brewer and Richard Northey…all the others live in areas that never had berm mowing.

Once again media wanting to manufacture a story.

Cameron, you did well to watch Campbell – I now find it too difficult.

Cameron, you did well o watch this much of Campbell, I find it too difficult now – he is so smarmy

      Do not watch Campbell.
My wife says Shortland Street has more sex at that time.

  • DLNZ

Most if not all of the stories on Campbell Live now fall under the “pathetic” category. The only reason I have watched it in the last 2-3 years was to see John Key tell the smarmy little git the real facts. Several times even it was such good viewing.

The other story last night was the locals in Kaikoura having a sook about oil prospecting due to start off the east coast. Simple solution – take the diesel supply and (the only) petrol station supply away, cause they obviously wouldn’t want to be hypocritical and use oil extracted from other countries would they? And who is the biggest user of diesel in Kaikoura? …well that would be Whalewatch and the fishermen. That’s all the local employment stuffed then, and would rid us of the most vocal whiners.

More Koha will be needed by Ngai Tahu/Whalewatch to satisfy them.

funny how you never have a story of complaint from the ‘Naki – Offshore Oil and Dairying – jobs, wealth, growth, happy as

Television programmes are not about facts, they are about ratings. Selling airtime to advertisers. Campbell time & time again has shown he will not let facts get in the way of what he is trying to portray.
The answer – turn it off, watch the Discovery Channel if you want facts. Once the ratings fall through the floor Campbell will disappear & NZ will be the better for it.

  • Mr_Blobby

What are you on about Whale boy. This is propaganda not News, you don’t let inconvenient facts get in the way of a good story.

    • LesleyNZ

The issue here is not the subject but the mixed up delivery. Because Ann Hartley and George Wood are candidates for the same council seat on the North Shore and it was George Wood who should have got the 10/10 not Ann Hartley. She should not be given credit for something she hasn’t done. Campbell Live got it wrong.

Yeah, from personal experience I know that if you lay it on Campbell Live and demand an Apology they cave in quite quickly, only trouble is, it is a half arsed, dropped volume kind of a mumble. But the satisfaction is, in knowing that they know they fucked up.
