Face of the Day

John Banks resigned as minister while he faces a private prosecution for alleged electoral fraud.

Why is it that everything that Krim Dotcon touches turns into a legal mess?

Here’s some advice for everyone – especially those with green or red tinted views on life – don’t cuddle Dotcon too much.  One day you may be in government and find yourself at the wrong end of his ability to play with NZ like an amusing little toy…

The thing that this story highlights is the media bias and selective reporting.
look at any article on this and where it talks about Graham McCready it simply calls him a ‘retired accountant’ You never see mention of the fact that he is currently bankrupt, that he is currently serving a sentence for Blackmail, that he has been convicted of fraud (in Canada) and Tax evasion here in NZ. If this were anyone else the media would report all of this.
They didn’t even report on him being made bankrupt…………and they wonder why they are a dying industry. MSM we don’t want your fltered version of the truth, we want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Whilst you continue to fail to deliver that more and more will find their sources of news elsewhere.

I was involved in a situation recently where a bankrupt tried to bring an action against me. I requested that the court require an amount (as a sort of bond) from the other party – enough to cover my legal expenses, and the court granted my request. I wonder if this could apply in Banks’ case?

      • Muffin

Might be because its a private criminal case as opposed to civil that would prevent this

About time that Banks resigned. It’s obvious that he’s been up to no good.

Maybe it’s not so much that ‘what Dotcom touches turns into a legal mess’, as much as: if you’re a politician who overtly asks for donations to be broken up to disguise them as being anonymous, maybe you’ll be seen to be lying when you say you don’t know who gave you money…

    • andrew carrot

Maybe we’ll just have to wait for the trial to answer that question. I doubt Mr Dotcom and coterie will be particularly pleased with a detailed examination of their previous statements.

      • AnonWgtn

I have to hope that DotCon gives evidence from a US jail by link.

  • Morrissey

He lied to parliament. Two to five years jail.

    • Good of you to pop in again.

  • blairmulholland

I don’t think there is anything wrong with anonymous donations. They really are nobody’s business, and no different from anonymous voting. If you like someone’s policies and record, vote for them. If you don’t, don’t. Banks has done nothing wrong, and should be acquitted. He also should be supported by anyone who supports more freedom and choice in New Zealand.

Why should we pile on to somebody for supposedly breaking a law that shouldn’t exist anyway?

    • AnonWgtn

Banks was silly, he should have done what Len did with similar donations and put them through a Trust

Unfortunately ACT will be dead in the next election. John Key better start to think of getting some support partners on board. Otherwise the communists and socialists are going to sleep walk to victory….

    • Hazards001

Yep. Your Rouge Morgan poll seems to confirm the fact that I’m bloody glad my passport is current and there are runways and roads throughout the Middle East that need people to build them!

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Damn – another one has come so soon….I think the trend is in place now. If the TV3 poll also confirms this, we can kiss goodbye to National.

        • Hazards001

Yes we can. And the tool that down voted my previous comment is a half wit.
