Say “hi” to Mrs Blair, wife of ex UK PM Tony Blair.

She’s got a great idea for a much improved welfare state

Increasing the number of women who work would be a useful boost for the recovering economy, according to Mrs Blair, a QC who is married to the former prime minister, Tony Blair.

In an essay for a family charity, Mrs Blair argues that stay at home mums should be given “returnerships” – apprentice-type programmes for parents after long breaks from the workforce whilst caring for their children.

The State could subsidise salary and training for the first six months that a mother — or father — returns to work, Mrs Blair said.   — The Telegraph
