Rinsing Ratbags – How did we do?

During the local body election I highlighted various different local body ratbags to highlight their troughing, dishonesty and general lack of ability.

So how did they do?

Aldo Miccio – the now former Mayor of Nelson, rinsed by the voters of Nelson.

Murray Douglas – The winner of my NZ’s Dodgiest Local Body Politician award came dead last. Remember he went running to Hawkes Bay Today to have a sook.

Mr Douglas, a former Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce CEO, said he did not believe anything in his past would impact on his ability to serve the public on council. He agreed candidates should be transparent in their public promotion profiles: “But it shouldn’t be highlighted in a blog because it’s largely anonymous without journalistic investigation. In this case, I wasn’t even asked for comment.

He didn’t want the reality of his past revealed…and now we know why. By revealing his past he came dead last. Good riddance to this ratbag.

Ewan Wilson – failed businessman, convicted fraudster, and general ratbag. – Failed to unseat Julie Hardaker for the mayoralty but re-elected to his ward.

Michael Williams – ratbag from Howick, bullied Adele White, ran the local board as his personal fiefdom along with a group of 5 others. He hid his altercation with Police, refused to stand down and has now been rinsed coming fifth in his ward. Michael Williams was not re-elected and most of his ratbag mates got rinsed as well. Jim Donald and Steve Udys better watch themselves, they’ll be next (Jim Donald for sure). Adele White was returned and can now expect to take the chair.

Paul Findlay – the Anthony Weiner of New Zaland politics, outed for his filthy sexting, still managed to convince 3856 people to vote for him. He was not elected.

Tricia Cheel – ratbag, quack, anti-fluoridation campaigner and homeopath…rinsed.

Sailauama Cheryl Talamaivao – Tried adding a hyphenated name to get further up the ballot paper. Not elected.

Warren Flaunty  – Convicted killer, veteran trougher, spent up large on radio advertising, still managed to con the tards out west…elected to Henderson-Massey Local Board in 4th position and the Kumeu Subdivision of the Rodney Local Board in 4th position and the Waitakere Licensing Trust – Ward 2. you really have to wonder about the people out west returning this ratbag. Quite how he will manage to do all those jobs and run his Pharmacy practice is beyond me.

David Trewavas – The idiots of Taupo have elected this ratbag as their mayor. I predict much bad news coming out of Taupo in the coming years.

Victor Cattermole – Ratbag from Christchurch. Lost the mayoralty race, and came 5th in the Burwood-Pegasus Ward. Not elected.

Steve Dixon – elected unopposed

Arshad Chathanot elected

David Dewnot elected. The good citizens of Marlborough saw through this ratbag and he has to find another trough to sup at.

Daniel Wright – ratbag from Christchurch, not elected.

Graham McCready – bankrupt, convicted blackmailer, convicted tax cheat, serial litigant, all round broken-arsed ratbag from Wellington…not elected...and only 235 votes to boot.

Rob Goulden – this ratbag from Wellington has a history of Failed complaints to the Press Council, Online sockpuppetry to support his homophobic comments and bad behaviour, Complaints to the Police about Kiwiblog for merely mentioning him, Making allegations at the CEO (Goulden bears a grudge due to reprimands from said CEO over previous Goulden behaviour) – He can add failure in this election to his long list of did not achieve result…Not elected.

Aaron Goodwin – ratbag from Blenheim – not elected.

Most of those featured were rinsed, not re-elected with the only exceptions being a couple of veteran troughers. Pretty good strike rate.

The big scalps are of course Aldo Miccio, Murray Douglas, Michael Williams and Paul Findlay.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.
