Prime Minister David Cameron paid a pre-Christmas visit to British troops in Afghanistan on Monday and reiterated that no British forces will be in a combat role there by the end of 2014.
Speaking during a visit to Camp Bastion military base in Helmand province, Mr Cameron said the current situation in Afghanistan was “a vast improvement on what we found in 2001”, and that British troops could leave “with their heads held high over a job very well done” – The Telegraph
