Knowing me, Knowing you – Maurie Haddon

Maurie Haddon

Maurie Haddon likes to email me when I am in the news. Usually he threatens me that he is going to get his pals in Al Qaeda and the Taliban to come and cut my head off…and that I should watch my back.

Today he sent this email:

Name: Maurie Haddon

Email: [email protected]

Message: you fat piece of blubber shit….the Judge has rightly told you what you are…..a non news item…a rightwing bumstabber with depression
take heaps of Citalopram and remain dormant

I’m sick of his emails, they are amongst some of the worst out there.

But who is Maurie Haddon?

Well he is a keyboard warrior who disrespects his military service on HMNZS Taranaki, including the memory of one of mates who served on the same ship.

Fortunately his Facebook page is open for all to see including his constant death threats against peopl he doesn’t like.

For instance the PM;

and David Cunliffe;

and Metiria Turei;

and Paula Bennett;

and Bill English;

Mauriehaddon5Those are  fairly serious threats. I would hope that Police would look into those.

Of course Maurie Haddon has featured on this blog before.

This is the level of discourse I receive from haters. Of course it isn’t many, but they still come through.

The flip-side is the many, many, many emails of support I received…and I am grateful for those. I have a notice board I pin them to so I can read them when I feel the world is grinding me down.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
