Oh, just harden up

I also suffer from depression (“You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it sure helps!”).  It is essentially a relapse from an earlier episode about a decade ago.  I also seem to be have the additional fun of panic attacks.  They sound kind of wussy, but it is basically the body reacting to simple things (like the phone ringing) with a fight/flight response – no different as if someone points a gun at you.

As you might imagine, this can get tiring.

Even people that love you deeply eventually have trouble cutting you some slack.  They can’t see anything wrong with you at all.  It certainly starts to look like you need special treatment and at times you are taking the piss…

It is nearly impossible to explain to someone who doesn’t have this very annoying chemical imbalance in their brains what it  is like to be the owner of one.  So we constantly look for ways to explain it.

It doesn’t really work, so here’s one for those who are or have suffered from depression.

It’ll make you go – yep.  Exactly.  They just don’t get it.
