If Kim DotCom would do a runner from New Zealand, how would he do it?

Let’s do a bit of crowd-sourcing.

If Kim DotCom would do a runner from New Zealand, how would he do it?

I doubt he would go to South America, he seems to have a preference for the Asian lifestyle (girls etc), and its closer. Though I am told that after getting extradited from Thailand and having to do a runner from the Philippines over unpaid gambling debts that he is frightened of Asia.

Distance is a problem for him, because if he did want to charter a plane, he would need a number of factors in his favour:

1. The plane would need to have sufficient legs to get to a safe haven. This rules out a lot of corporate jets in NZ, so he’d have to get one in especially, a privateer jet service….with the ability to make it further than Australia or any other nearby country with an extradition treaty with the US.

2. The plane would need to arrive, be based, and depart from a location where it wouldn’t arouse lots of suspicion. So Auckland International or Domestic Airport might be harder, but then, I don’t know where a long distance corporate jet would be based in Northland, since I presume he’d want to be as close as possible to his destination.

3. The closest country to New Zealand where there isn’t an extradition treaty with NZ or the USA is (correct me if I’m wrong), Indonesia. The closest airports in Indonesia (adjacent to the PNG borders) is around 5000km, which is doable for a corporate jet.

I wonder though, whether a better option for him is to steal away on a launch or yacht. Make an excuse to holiday up at the Bay of Islands, have a large yacht waiting on the outskirts of the Bay (say 8-10km off the coast), and get a helicopter to drop him off onto the boat, or a midnight dash on a small boat. With a day or two’s head start, he could be between 700-1400 NM away from NZ…in any direction.

So readers…If Kim DotCom would do a runner from New Zealand, how would he do it?”
