Face of the day

Two Face

Two Face

Two face had to be face of the day today.

I have been amazed as I have watched people in the Media and in Politics say one thing and do another.

Today I will give only one example even though there are so many to choose from.

Perhaps I will do another tomorrow. I certainly do not lack material.
First up is Rachel Smalley and her Opinion piece entitled:

Whaleoil v Whaledump

This afternoon Cameron Slater, the Whaleoil blogger, will go to the High Court in a bid to stop the media from publishing information hacked from his Facebook and email accounts.

He says his Gmail and Facebook accounts include information regarding his personal life, his finances, correspondence with doctors and psychiatrists etc – that’s information the media wouldn’t publish.

It’s just not in the public interest.

But those accounts did hold information that absolutely is in the public interest to disclose – the nature of the American-style attack politicks that Slater had become immersed in, his relationship with lobbyists and PR spin doctors working for the likes of failed financier mark Hotchin to undermine the Serious Fraud Office.

Then there was the targeting of a public servant, the priority given to slater ahead of the media when it came to requests for official information, and his relationship with a senior staffer in John Key’s office, and the allegations that Judith Collins was, as Slater put it, “gunning” for Adam Feeley, the head of the SFO.

Ok all good so far. Her argument is that the ethical Media will not use the personal stuff.

The stuff not in the public interest.

You know… stuff like chatting to your mate who has just been dumped and who is feeling pretty down on women.

But then guess what ethical Rachel Smalley does?

She reports on his private conversation with his mate that has NOTHING to do with politics and is not in the public interest. It is however great for character assassination.

It was an opportunity this ‘ ethical‘ Media personality could not resist using to put the boot in.

Yes, YOU Rachel, the Rachel of the Lardo and heifer fame.

As an aside – the latest dump in the last 24 hours included extremely disparaging comments about women – Slater suggesting if women weren’t useful for sex, then they’d probably be stoned.

Yet still, quite remarkably, John Key hasn’t moved to distance himself or his Party from Cameron Slater or the Whaleoil blog. Why is that? Why won’t he publicly severe that relationship?

That remains perhaps the most telling unanswered question of them all.

No Rachel, the question in my mind is how can you be so deluded as to shoot down your own valid argument by using personal stuff not in the public interest to vilify a person you dislike? You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the MSM.

Rachel Smalley called NZ women "heifers" and "lardos"

( It is pretty devastating to your image isn’t it Rachel when comments that are meant to remain private are made public)
