Media Statement

Earlier this year material was illegally copied from private file storage without my knowledge nor permission that contains, among other things, privileged medical, privileged legal and private documents.   Some of these formed the basis of a book by Nicky Hager.

Hager never sought any contact to verify, ask for comment or otherwise allow me the opportunity to protect myself and others before the book was published.

Subsequently, more material has been released to other parties, including media, and subsequently used as a source for further research and public releases of private information.

All material has been published with full knowledge that it was obtained through illegal acts, and also without checking with any of the original authors or sources if anything that was published or used as source material was in fact genuine and unaltered.

The ongoing release of people’s private conversations, without permission, without warning, without verification as to its authenticity leaves no other option but to request the courts to injunct any further publication or dissemination.

As this matter is now in the hands of the legal system, I will not comment on this or closely related matters in any way.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
