Is Andrew Little a Sociopath?

They say it takes one to know one and Andrew Little did say this…

“Cameron Slater is a difficult personality, I think it’s probably not too fine a point to say he’s a sociopath,”

So lets have a look at ‘ Ten of the ways you can spot a Sociopath( taken from Radio Live ) and compare them with Angry Andrew to see if he has any of them shall we?

1) Sociopaths are charming. Sociopaths have high charisma and tend to attract a following just because people want to be around them. They have a “glow” about them that attracts people who typically seek guidance or direction. They often appear to be sexy or have a strong sexual attraction.

Sexually attractive?

Is this man charming and sexually attractive? Does he have charisma?

Is Andrew charming and sexually attractive? Does he have charisma? Two of New Zealand’s cartoonists don’t seem to think so.

2) Sociopaths are more spontaneous and intense than other people. They tend to do bizarre, sometimes erratic things that most regular people wouldn’t do. They are unbound by normal social contracts. Their behaviour often seems irrational or extremely risky.

Strange, risky behaviour?

Bizarre, spontaneous, behaviour?

3) Sociopaths are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought. They pursue any action that serves their own self interest even if it seriously harms others.

To be fair, doesn’t that describe most politicians? No one ever makes leader of a political party without knifing the person before them do they? Helen Clark was described as ruthless by many but she got the top job and held it despite the damage she caused to the Labour Party by surrounding herself with those weaker than her in order to stay in control.

4) Sociopaths invent outrageous lies about their experiences. They wildly exaggerate things to the point of absurdity, but when they describe it to you in a storytelling format, for some reason it sounds believable at the time.

5) Sociopaths seek to dominate others and “win” at all costs. They hate to lose any argument or fight and will viciously defend their web of lies, even to the point of logical absurdity.

6) Sociopaths tend to be highly intelligent, but they use their brainpower to deceive others rather than empower them. Their high IQs often makes them dangerous. This is why many of the best-known serial killers who successfully evaded law enforcement were sociopaths.

7) Sociopaths are incapable of love and are entirely self-serving. They may feign love or compassion in order to get what they want, but they don’t actually feel love in the way that you or I do.

8) Sociopaths speak poetically. They are master wordsmiths, able to deliver a running “stream of consciousness” monologue that is both intriguing and hypnotic. They are expert storytellers and even poets.

A wordsmith?

A master wordsmith?

9) Sociopaths never apologize. They are never wrong. They never feel guilt. They can never apologise. Even if shown proof that they were wrong, they will refuse to apologize and instead go on the attack.

10) Sociopaths are delusional and literally believe that what they say becomes truth merely because they say it! Charles Manson, the sociopathic murderer, is famous for saying, “I’ve never killed anyone! I don’t need to kill anyone! I THINK it! I have it HERE! (Pointing to his temple.) I don’t need to live in this physical realm…”

It is clear then that Andrew Little is not a Sociopath as he lacks charisma and he certainly is no wordsmith. I have failed to find any evidence that he is highly intelligent, only evidence that he thinks that by yelling he is making a weak argument or repeated question stronger ( hence his nickname Angry Andrew )

While he does have something in common with three of the descriptors that is hardly enough to accuse him of being a fully fledged Sociopath.

Unfortunately he doesn’t let this stop him from accusing Cameron of being one. If you think about it carefully however, he may well be accusing Cam of being Charismatic, a wordsmith and highly intelligent.

I would like to think that is the case but some how I don’t think so.

Oh my goodness. While I agree with the summary that Andrew Little is not a sociopath every point raised led me to thinking how Russell Norman fits the description – almost a text book case. While I don’t personally find him attractive in any way or charming there are enough green followers that apparently do.

    • dgrogan

Including the sexually attractive bit? Surely not.

      • mommadog

Definitely not for me but he might for some. There has to be a reason why he has followers and hasn’t been kicked out from the green leadership. Who knows what he tells all those young people who think the greens are still about saving the trees. Weird but hey- even Charles Manson found someone who wants to marry him in jail. No accounting for some peoples taste.

    • Fritz

      Same applies to Winston Peters…

  • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Angry Andrew has the charisma of a cardboard cut out…..say no more…

    • understater

I think he has the polar opposite of Charisma. Call it “Charisn’tma”.

  • Mrs_R

Based on that list I don’t believe either Cam or Angry Andy are sociopaths, I do however think Dotcom ticks more than a few boxes.

    • mommadog

The only attractive thing about him is his money. When I was a kid we go Donald Duck cartoon magazines. Scrooge was often portrayed in his bank vault rolling around in his money. That’s what I think of with Dot Com. As for his (ex) wife I hate to be judgemental but will go ahead anyway. I would bet my last dollar that if she had met him in the same way but he was flat broke they would not have ended up together. That’s not how you get out of the Philippines and outside of his $$$ he has nothing. Love was for the lifestyle not the person.

      • Wallace Westland

“I hate to be judgemental but will go ahead anyway” You are awesome. That has to be the line of the week.
If only people like Little could be so capable of such an analytical insight of themselves.

But he’s not. I’ve already heard the mealy mouthed disassembling pouring from him in much the same way it did from Helen, Jim and Jenny.

    • Cadwallader

      I was reminded of Little’s predecessor leader….?!?

Andrew might not be a sociopath, but a lot has been written on Psychopaths, a potentially far more dangerous creature, and I will wager a few dollars the bill fits Angry Little well. Here is an extract from Phillip Hare, an expert on the subject.

“Probably the most significant characteristic of all, lack of empathy means that psychopaths are unable to understand and identify with the feelings of others. There is a cold lack of interest in someone else’s pain or discomfort.
This is one of the main reasons psychopaths are so potentially dangerous: they can be cruel and callous because they aren’t put off, as a normal person would be, by any sympathy for their victims’ suffering”

Ah, look at Andrews defeats in his own electorate, just dusted off, no reaction, nothing.

Another in this mould, and like Angry Andy he gets super angry when pushed is Lying Len.

Oh another extract: “Take a look at the person’s lifestyle. Psychopaths are often parasitic, meaning they live off other people” Ah, perhaps this means they are a socilaist?

  • unitedtribes

I was just doing a self analysis. Is it possible to be a 43% Sociopath?

    • Mrs_R

Should we ask what boxes you gave a tick. I’d like to think perhaps 1, 2 possibly 4, and maybe 8?

    • Dr Gonzo

Probably if you only interact with others 43% of the time ?

  • JC

The danger of Little is he’s more like Jim Bolger (3 elections), John Howard (Oz, 3-4 ?), H Clark (3).

These were pretty gray people but were effective in their own ways.

Watch Andy.. if he controls his temper he’ll do OK.

  • I wouldn’t get too sidetracked by an attempt to label anyone as psychopath or sociopath. Modern diagnosis only talks of various types of personality disorder. Little is an angry little man doing his best according to his lights. It is a bridge too far to put a diagnosis on him, however tempting. Possibly we should defer to Plato who (to paraphrase) suggested that those who seek to rule others should be automatically disqualified from holding office. JK on the other hand was deliberately recruited to take on role of an ipso facto CEO – that’s the difference..

  • Coffee Connoisseur

apply the same questions to John Key….. a little concerning to say the least.

  • BM

    Nothing wrong with sociopaths.

    • Timboh

I think there is everything wrong with sociopaths. Speaking from experience.

      • BM

      • Dr Gonzo

Pathological Lying is up the list – never a good thing

  • Timboh

Let’s be fair here. Sociopaths have been described as “They think mainly of themselves and often blame others for the things that they do”
Mr Little is more a product of his environment, the Labour party, than his normal nature.

  • Dr Gonzo

Tom Scott as always – Cake Taken

  • Kiwibabe

Cam off the hook here as well, no comment which items… :)

    • spanishbride

He has apologised on the Blog before and more importantly to me and even to his children when he felt he was out of line. Cam is quite capable of saying sorry and being genuine about it. I know that the Feral scandal will be dragged out AGAIN but a forced apology is no apology at all. Cam is an honest person and doesn’t do insincere apologies. he could have to make the haters go away but the easy way out is not him.

  • Billythekid

Angry Andy is a nutcase. No research or comparisons needed. Angry Andy is a nutcase. I believe all centre right folks that you ask will agree that Angry Andy is a nutcase. I rest my NUT case !!!

  • Another Middleagedwhiteguy

Mr AA may not personally be a sociopath, but what if we apply those same analysis points to the Left?
It becomes obvious how highly, in fact extremely, sociopathic the Left really is.

There are ten boxes there that you can tick, and a fair analysis comes up with about thirty ticks.

And it is no wonder then that the Left sucks up to Islam – “birds of a feather . . . “

  • Annoyed

Cunliffe on the other hand does tick most of those boxes (sorry for being a man not withstanding – he wasn’t sorry for stuffing up the election)..

    • Whitey

He wasn’t sorry for being a man either, he just thought it would win him some cheap brownie points with the audience he was speaking to at the time. Sociopaths can feign contrition if they think it works to their advantage.
