you would have to think that surely tvnz news has been running longer than country calendar….oh wait. they said “factual”

      Remember these guys? (pic)

The sky at night? 50 years of Sir Patrick Moore? Hard to top.

  • Chris EM

Country Calendar is probably the best show on TV.

    • Wallace Westland

Reality TV before reality TV ruined TV

      • Wahbonnah

haha yes, does anyone remember the remote controlled sheep dog?

  • SlightlyStrange

Well, I wasn’t playing the CC theme song in my head till you mentioned it. But now I have to try and get it out again!

  • Orange

I’m missing the point on the chocolate one. Not the very normal name for a particular chocolate dish is it? Edit: Oh, *that* cafe… meh, not funny

  • Wallace Westland

Taking down the Lindt Cafe review is as pertinent as those that wanted Peter Jackson to rename part two of the Lord of the Rings trilogy after 9/11.

I’ll save you the trouble, the 2nd book in the trilogy was called The Two Towers.
Jackson refused to bow to the PC pansies that need everything sugar coated and fluffy.

    • Frosty78

Mmm true, but what about the black dog in The Dambusters? I think PJ has said it will not keep its name from the original – that’s bowing to the PC brigade.

      • Wallace Westland

It certainly is. Want to tell everyone the black dogs name?

      • Teletubby

As much as the dogs name is considered highly offensive nowdays, and may not even pass moderation, I think it is an important part of the story that it was actually pretty much okay to call a black dog by that name. We should be able to the values of the world at the time reflected in a story from that time, like it or not it is our history and we should be able to contrast it with where we are at today rather than pretending it never happened.

        • Frosty78

Remembering also ’12 years a slave’ didn’t change the N word to ‘Digger’ so I don’t know what PJ is thinking. Unless he thought it will reflect badly on the hero in the film to be thought as a racist, calling his dog that?

The bumper sticker could be back to the future – NZ in the 1800’s?
