Let’s give Public figures their own songs

John Key has his own song and so does Len Brown and Kim Dotcom

I think that it is only fair that we assign songs to our favourite Public figures of 2014.

I will do a few and I then invite you all to put your own selections in the comments.

First up is a song that I heard this afternoon on the Radio that immediately made me think of Mona Dotcom.

Mona Dotcom

Mona Dotcom

Next is a song that I can imagine Pam Corkery happily singing along to. This has to be her song for 2014

It has been a tough year for Cameron but he has shaken off all the haters so this has to be his song.

Matt McCarten

One day the truth will come out about Matt Mc Carten’s involvement in Dirty Politics and then this song will be remembered as his.

David Parker

David Parker

Last but by no means least, I found this parody song for David Parker in response to this article on Whaleoil this year.

So what are the songs that you associate with Andrew Little, Russel Norman and others?

  • Sally

    David Cuncliffe.
    Baby, I’m Sorry

    • Skydog

My nomination for Cuncliffe is ‘your’e so vain’ by Carly Simon. Not sure if the link will work:

  • Fat Sally
  • Kevin

“Who Are You?” – Andrew Little

  • edee

Metiria Turei – The Knitting Song

  • Carl

Last one and it could have many worthy contenders but maybe KDC.

  • Sally

    Here’s one for Giovanni Tiso
    “I Boycott Everything”

    • mommadog

Tiso will now have to share this song with Tara Merriman.

      • Sally

Tiso is the King of Boycotts, Tara is his loyal subject.

  • Effluent

How about “I’m a little teapot” for Grant Robertson ? should improve his voter appeal even more than Rugby & beer – see video below

  • edee

Kim Dot Com – The Great Pretender.

    • Betty Swallocks

      … or for future reference?

  • HSV325

Here’s one for Dotcon, ‘I’ve had an absolute c&@t of a day’ Kevin Bloody Wilson

  • SVlover

‘Oh Lord its hard to be humble’ for Colin Craig

  • Michael

Fenton “Jong-Un” Fenton – Damn the dam

  • steve and monique

I have one for the Internet/Mana Party where both the title and the artists name says it all; Money for Nothing by Dire Straits (could also be used for Nanaia Mahuta!) and for Jacinda Ardern – Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong, ironically by the “Spin Doctors”

  • Sally

For Trevor Mallard and his new bride. But Andrea Vance might have a word to say about this.
“On a Bicycle Built for Two”

  • ex-JAFA

KDC’s song to the Mana side of their doomed abomination:

  • Nechtan

“Dance with the Devil” for Internet/Mana (Hone Laila etc…)
