Misleading by omission

Don’t you just love our media…clamouring and demanding the PM stop talking to me, demanding that he stop texting me…all the while doing the very same thing they don’t want the PM to do.

Normally I wouldn’t mind but when they mislead by omitting salient details…well what is a man to do?

This morning Andrea Vance has an article where she “quotes” me.

Slater said the claims were “complete rubbish”. And Key fired back during Question Time, saying: “I have not had a proactive relationship with him.”

I did say those words…but they were in the middle of a whole lot of other words, which either she or the editors chose not to publish. And it was in writing so I could see if the reporting was accurate.

But in line with my personal policy that if you lie about me (even by omission) then I’ll reserve the right to tell the truth about you.

So quite a bit out of context…the correct way to quote that is to use the capital C like this “Complete rubbish…”.

Remember people when the media contact you they are recording information, and so should you so when they lie, even by omission you can point this out to them.

Referencing 101. And more to the point, what makes her so high and mighty that she can text/email you and someone else can’t?

    • LesleyNZ

If she can text and email Cam then so can the person who runs our country. Who does Andrea think she is?
      EDIT: grammar

  • ex-JAFA

I hope Vance has written permission from Wussel to contact you.

  • El Diablo

Not that Im one to defend Vance but in this case I disagree that omitting the rest of the text after “Complete rubbish” is lying by omission. One could argue that it is simply omitting your elaboration on why it is complete rubbish but still correctly reported the substance.

But yes it is interesting that they are attacking Key for having the temerity to text you when they then do the exact same thing.

The question was addressed…or words to that effect. Looks just like question time in the House.

  • caochladh

Vance has a history of interviewing her keyboard and promoting her own slanted opinions rather than the facts of any given issue. That’s why, when I see her name attributed to anything, I don’t bother to read it.

  • Tony

What would you expect from the News of the World!!!!

  • Dairy_Flat

I demand to know why Vance is texting the most toxic organism in the known universe. What hold does he have over her? For the visiting lefties, this is called sarcasm.

  • Greg M

And this is the crux of the whole thing. The lefty media can text whoever they want, but the Prime Minister needs their approval to do the same.
I’m over the MSM, and their breathtaking hypocrisy, time we were Freed.

  • Rachael Membery

Did Whale give Vance his cell phone number or vice versa?

  • Chiefsfan73

Luckily I am so uninteresting, nobody in the media is ever likely to contact me.

  • BJ

In responding to the media asking for an official response wouldn’t it be best to state facts only and then there is no room for omission? If there is no descriptive stuff to quote they are only left with the stated facts to report – that should shut them down from further questions of a variation on the theme.

  • Wheninrome

What is it with “official response”, does one have to respond, are they the law, has a crime been committed?
What else is happening in the world, anything important, I won’t wait for the press, tv msm as a whole to tell me.
learning my own research sometimes informs me better. They could become obsolete in a very short time.
Lack of important detail in anything they report .

  • Dave

Andrea, please send a complete unedited set of texts and all communications, emails and transcripts of phone conversations and promises or undertakings ever made, insinuated or indicated between you and Peter Dunne, any member of his staff, his friends and family pets. Just for transperency and the complete picture, not your churnalistic speak.

  • Nebman

In summary, they’re allowed to talk to the PM and you’re not because..?? I’m confused.

The thing I don’t understand is that if you’re so toxic and sociopathic etc, why do they keep talking to you and about you?

Ok, the above is rhetorical but do the likes of Vance and the other mutterers of nearly truths out there, really think people are so stupid as to not work it out.

Actually it’s just dawned on me – you’re like the renegade magician running around telling the punters how the tricks are done! No wonder they despise you but they have to keep watching just in case you know how to do a trick they don’t.

    Go hard I say!

  • Dumrse

I would like to text Miz Vance so can anyone provide her number?
