NZ has a rape culture? Nah…this is a rape culture

The Green party in particular made a big deal this year of promoting the fact that New Zealand has a rape culture and David Cunliffe was sorry for being a man.

I countered many times that NZ doesn’t have a rape culture…but now we have the number one example of what a real rape culture looks like.

The rape culture of ISIS and hard core Islamists.

People in Mosul — the Iraqi city now under control of the group calling itself the Islamic State — got these and other messages loud and clear after sunset prayers Friday, when armed men handed out a color-printed pamphlet “Question and Answers on Female Slaves and their Freedom,” three residents told CNN.

“People started gathering in small groups chattering about this (document),” said one of the men, whom CNN didn’t name for security reasons. “Most are shocked, but (we) cannot do much about it.”

The document was first printed in October or November, then later posted on an ISIS website. It has gotten more publicity recently because of the Middle East Media Research Institute, an independent Washington-based nonprofit whose advisory board includes former National Security Agency Director Michael V. Hayden, onetime CIA Director James Woolsey and ex-U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

The idea that ISIS is kidnapping, selling and raping women and children is hardly surprising. Many such accounts have surfaced since the group began its often brutal run through Syria and Iraq, including chilling stories from members of the Yazidi religious minority. And these are on top of other horrific allegations, such as the killings and mistreatment of innocent civilians simply because they didn’t subscribe to ISIS’ extreme take on Sharia law.

How’s about that sharia law then?

ISIS at least has put it writing…modern Islamic slavery, authorised by the Quran.

Even then, it is rare to see its rationale laid out as plainly as in “Question and Answers on Female Slaves and their Freedom.”

In the document, for instance, it is explained that capturing women is permissible if they are “nonbelievers.” It adds, “Female slaves are the women that Muslims took from their enemies.

Much of the pamphlet talks about ISIS’ policy on having sexual intercourse with a female slave, something that the group cites the Quran to justify.

If she was a virgin, he (the owner) can have intercourse with her immediately after the ownership is fulfilled,” ISIS explains. “If she was not a virgin, her uterus must be purified (wait for her period to be sure she is not pregnant.)

There are other rules as well, like that two men who co-own a captive can’t both have sex with her and that a man can’t have intercourse with his wife’s slave.

Then there is the Quran sanctioned paedophilia.

As to girls: “It is permissible to have intercourse with the female slave who hasn’t reached puberty if she is fit for intercourse,” the document reads. “However, if she is not fit for intercourse, he (the owner ) can only enjoy her without intercourse.

The Q&A is clear that, young and old, the captors have full control of their captives.

As such, the ISIS document claims, “It is permissible to buy, sell or give as a gift female captives and slaves, for they are merely property.

In response to the question of whether a female slave can buy her freedom, the answer is, “Yes she can.”

The document also says that freeing a slave is something a sinner who has committed an act like unintentional murder or perjury can do for his sin to be forgiven. Alternative actions are fasting for two consecutive months or feeding hungry people.

The pamphlet sets a few other guidelines, such as that a captive mother can’t be separated from her young children and that an impregnated captive cannot be sold. Beating a female slave for discipline is OK, but beating her for pleasure or as a form of torture is not.

Oh that makes it all ok then.

There are fewer rules for the captives themselves, though the ISIS pamphlet does identify one thing as “the gravest of sins” — running away from one’s master.

This document marks the most detailed, albeit not first, justification for enslaving nonbelievers, as defined by ISIS. Time and again, the group cites the Quran and its view of Sharia law.

This is the same crowd that the Green party doesn’t want us to go to war against.

Well the Green Party does want us all to go back to the stone ages, and give up modern conveniences for global warming. This would certainly be a step back in time for mankind.

  • intelligentes candida diva

I literally shuddered reading the point of girls/children, what is and is not permissible.
Corrupt evil doers at the core of innocence, this must be halted, I wish I could do more than express my opposition.

Oh thats right Jan Logie where are you, please get out and protest this cause because this is for sure rape culture?

    • Just a thought …

Sorry but Jan is way to busy spending Xmas coming up with all her ” faux outrage ” topics for next year……..

      • Aucky

Wash your mouth out JaT………..Jan doesn’t do Christmas. She’ll be having a very merry PC Festive Season instead.

        • Just a thought …

opps sorry … you are right and of course ISIS are really just a bunch of ” very naughty ” boys where as John Key is the true “devil incarnate” that the Greens must expunge from the planet…..

          edit – punc

    • Betty Swallocks

In our Jan’s world view I suspect it’s only rape culture if there is political capital to be made for announcing it as such. Having said that, I shouldn’t imagine she’s had any ideas about being adopted as Greens’ candidate for Mosul at their next general election. Maybe we should suggest it to her?

  • dgrogan

IS are human scum. Interesting comment from that supposedly ‘innocent’ bystander, “Most are shocked, but (we) cannot do much about it.”
Is that because he also believes in the teaching of Muhammad and sympathises with IS – or because he fears for hisown safety? Either way, he and his ilk are a gutless pack of ratbags as well.

    • Just a thought …

I think the problem is that the masses haven’t yet got themselves organised or co-ordinated into a group to challenge IS. But I think it is coming and some leaders will stand up and be counted.
It is starting to happen in Pakistan and hopefully will spread from there…… Where is the ilk of Martin Luther King etc when you need them……. I know they are out there somewhere…….

  • JoJo

So then by the Greens logic… If a Greenie woman is at home alone and her angry male neighbour comes over and abuses her because he doesn’t believe in the Green parties values, thats ok, dont call the police to rescue her, its just his culture and the police have no right to intervene.

  • Just a thought …

Hmmmm Jan Logie …. sex slave , not words I would like to see in the same sentence…… now that’s chilling ……

  • intelligentes candida diva

    I abhor paedophilia.
    Being controversial I wonder:
What are Non Islamic & “moderate” Islamic leaders going to do to address this particular point because there is a paedophilia/rape culture going on all over the world against innocent children & a lack of an attempt to address it or to negotiate the elimination of that point to me the media discussing it I think perpetuates an ill belief of legitimising paedophilia, or justifying their filthy behaviour.
    Surely this cannot go unaddressed….?

  • Michael_l_c

Wussel, come on make a speech or at lease a press release, condemning ISIS, ISL, IS, or are u afraid?

Where is the outrage from other Islamic leaders?

  • metalnwood

It’s pretty sick really. One thing that stuck out was that it is justified under the quran to have a slave yet freeing a slave is somehow penance for a sin they committed.

How can freeing a slave justify doing a sin unless you know that keeping a slave is wrong in the first place.

  • Whitey

The Greens seem to have nothing to say about this. Their silence is deafening.

  • Luis Cannon

Greens = Enemies of the State. A party that cant support stamping out the depravity of IS scum shows how irrelevant the Greens really are. Fit only for cannon fodder in a war zone.

  • LesleyNZ

Yesterday an Iraqi friend (Christian not Muslim) told us that ISIS is made up of criminals, thugs and Sadam Hussein’s henchmen. ISIS are attracting the like-minded. ISIS is a version of the Marfia with an Islamic twist.

  • Michael Cosgrove

The throwaway line at the foot of the piece is absurd.
Using that logic we should be sending the NZ Army to anywhere in the world where there is oppression.
We are not a country of full of Tom Joads.

All the Muslim preachers are evil tossers, love them rapist and murderers,MOHAMMED must be a hell of a nice god.

    • dgrogan

Mohammad was a profit, who supposedly gave them God’s revelations in the Quran. Allah is their God.

      • Bartman

LOL prophet is the required term, off with your hand you capitalist pig!

        • dgrogan

          Ha. My bad. Thanks.

  • BlitzkriegNZ

Don’t forget the massive Muslim run pedo rings in England. Even when it’s their own English children being used they’re still too pathetic to stand up against them for fear of being labeled racist and arrested for hate speech. These Muslims of course are the moderates who the greens see as peaceful and loving people.

    • dgrogan

You won’t hear real condemnation from Muslim leaders.
From the little research I’ve done, it appears the Quran teaches supremacy, hatred and hostility. The teachings of Muhammad are not about universal brotherhood, but about the brotherhood of believers. Non-believers are reviled animals.

Muslims and their apologists say that Islam teaches love and kindness and is the ‘Religion of Peace’, but they fail to disclose that this applies only to the treatment of those within the Muslim community.

Their religion also forbids them to condemn the teachings of Muhammad, so they will NOT condemn IS. What you will hear from Muslim leaders, is that IS are not Muslim.

      • Kevin

Anyone who insists Islam is the religion of peace has never read the Koran.

Once upon a time Christianity was as bad as Islam is now. The difference is that Christianity was able to be reformed and political power removed (i.e. separation of Church and State). That will never happen to Islam because the Koran is believed to be infallible which is why they still chop off hands in Muslim countries.

    • Kevin

The sex gangs in England (upon which I believe Roastbusters was based) are mostly Muslims who prey on young non-Muslim women. They don’t prey on Muslim women because they know what would happen to them if they did.

    • Wheninrome

Well they are seen as peaceful cause they don’t cause any noise, keep quiet about what is going on, and hide things under the carpet, so to speak. A bit like NZ back in the 1950’s etc., where what went on behind the closed front door of a home stayed there.

  • Justsayn

What would it take before the likes of the Greens thought that direct military action is justified?

Apparently mass murder, systemic rape, slavery, child rape, indoctrination of child soldiers, torture, and ethnic / religious cleansing are not enough.

Next time they are bleating to a reporter I hope that reporter asks the simple question… what would it take?

    • Jas

If it was a Country like Serbia back in the balkans conflict I imagine they would be for it.

    • Dixon

I suspect maybe if they were fighting in a area where an semi endangered snail might be living?

      • Justsayn

Good point! It would have to be a native snail though. Maybe if IS were to deny anthropogenic climate change?

      • Pharmachick

Or the native skink that apparently ONLY lives in the 1.2 sq km of the [now completed] Whangamata marina. LOL.

    • Pharmachick

There are some that will always hold to the idea that the only war to engage in is a war of defense. The argument has a lot of merit. However, if that was entirely true then WWII would have been very different. It is problematic joining other conflicts (for examples of how it goes wrong see: Vietnam (USA), Korea (everyone), Afghanistan (the French, the Russians, the Belgians, the US) and so on). But also for examples of how it goes right see: Crimea, WWI, WWII … lots more there. Joining a war that is not “of defense” is very, very loaded.

    • Michael Cosgrove

So why are we not fighting in Syria, CAR, Myanmar, South Sudan . . . . Nigeria maybe or Kenya?

      • Um… Not understanding the reference to Kenya – am I missing something? Note: I live in Kenya.

  • Curly1952

Very sick culture. Waiting for the Greens to acknowledge these issues will be a long long way off.
These issues should be those on the MSM not the soft rubbish they portray day and night.
I guess one of the good things about all this is that the Taliban have annoyed the Pakistanis enough that they are fighting back strong so it should only take a little while until we see ISIS really on the run.

    • Pharmachick

I cannot imagine the horror that Pakistan is going through with that attack on the school children. It is heartening to see them channeling their anger and grief for a good cause and to prevent similar things happening by rejecting these evil Taliban monsters.

      • dgrogan

It’s a shame 100’s of innocents had to die first. But, their retaliation is better late than never.

  • taurangaruru

Bearing in mind that the “Vote Positive” campaign was a preordained strike against at the time yet to be revealed “dirty politics of the right,” what was the rape culture slur all about? We saw all the loons from the left get on the bandwagon of the rape culture theme, all the way to Cunliffe’s apology. What was the real intent of this?

    • dgrogan

They wanted to take out McCully.

  • Orange

Most rules are about limiting bad behaviour. The bar on these rules is set so low the behaviour they must be limiting must be even more unthinkable.

  • This is the end result of building a society on unchangable rules from long ago. You don’t let your own society grow up. In the western world, the bible was once used to justify slavery, our secular laws were able to grow and change to over rule these barbaric practices.

    • dgrogan

Indeed. And for precisely that reason, Muslims believe the Tanakh and the Holy Bible are corrupted – like the Jews and Christians who follow their teachings, who are “perverted transgressors”.

  • JAFA Gazza

That just put a totally disturbing image in my head…..

    • Wallace Westland

Oh sorry, like this you mean? (pic)

      • JAFA Gazza

        Oh Wallace the image I had was less disturbing. I now need to go book my therapy session and find a way to stay awake all night…maybe watch Paranormal Activity to stave off the nightmares…. ;

        • Wallace Westland

Putting myself in the naughty corner for inflicting grievous mental harm to a fellow oiler…was never my intent!

  • Coffee Connoisseur

Try not to forget the inconvenient fact that ISIS were funded and Armed by the US in Libya…..Had they not this entire situation wouldn’t even exist.
