  • [MOD] There is an article published at 6:45 about the Sydney Lindt Cafe hostage crisis. Can you please direct your comments about that there? Many thanks.

I am interested to know, does anyone regularly use price comparison sites for services here in NZ? I see the power company ones advertised but are there others? (Car insurance, banking, etc?)

    • EveryWhichWayButLeft

I use PriceSpy for all things related to computers and stuff [technical term]…

    • Moonroof

There is also priceme.co.nz, but pricespy seems to be better indexed

I see that the Electoral Commission has referred 126 voters to the police for voting twice in the General Election. I wonder if Martin Martyn is amongst them.

    • Teletubby

What does it matter, it’s not like the police are actually going to do anything. They haven’t acted on any of the other breaches of the Electoral Act that have been referred to them so they will look exceedingly stupid if they act on these. Almost all of the past referrals involve public figures or politicians and they have used the “not in the public interest to prosecute” excuse so if they now act against Joe Citizen it will look very much like one law for the elite and another for the rest of us.

  • armotur

Even Martin/ Martyn would not have been stupid enough to vote twice after Whaleoil outed him by highlighting his double registration on the Electoral role, so he is unlikely to be on the list.

He should consider thanking Cam for saving him from that embarrassment and the potential jail or fine! Imagine that happening!

    • Sooty

Why not, he was stupid enough to register in two names. So would he not vote with both!

    • OT Richter

Not sure of the timing, but could he have placed an advanced vote before being outed?

On irishcentral.com today there is an article on the coming winter in Ireland –

“Ireland may soon be facing the worst winter in decades.
Forecasters are predicting an Arctic blast that could rival the Big Freeze of 1963, when icy-sub-zeroblizzards covered the country with up to five feet of snow. At least 500 deaths were reported in Europe due to the cold.

Weather experts are warning that Ireland could see up to five feet of snow this year with daytime temperatures hovering around zero/32°F and overnight lows down to -15C/5°F.” ….

It goes on to say it could be as bad as the winter of 1963.

So, for every place that’s warming there is a place that’s cooling.

Looks like police in Aussie don’t agree with our police. Turns out going 5kph ISN’T the most dangerous thing to do while driving! Wow I would’ve never guessed!
Policing stupidity is way too hard on our roads, better to rape the wallets of people passing safely on a nice straight passing lane with a sneaky camera.

Oh my good grief ! I just looked at the Daily Blog, haven’t looked at it before as blogging is fairly new to me. This Martyn Bradbury guy, is he rational? His hatred of John Key and you Cam,seems a bit insane to me.

    • Reaper

It didn’t take you long to figure him out then. I don’t think I have ever heard the words ‘rational’ and ‘Bradbury’ used together.

Green Party climate spokesman Kennedy Graham is reported in the NZ Herald saying that to reduce global warming one option is for New Zealand to reduce our dairy herd.

Not only is it an insane suggestion but for the last 50 odd years New Zealands air temperature has been trending down based on the raw unadjusted temperature data on the NIWA website.

Interesting article… http://www.3news.co.nz/entertainment/seth-rogen-sony-hack-is-fked-up-2014121611#axzz3LvT5dlBd shame MSM in New Zealand don’t see anything wrong with using stolen property

    • Wheninrome

Love the outrage with the Hacked (stolen) Sony emails in USA. Perhaps this will help sort out the issue. Thieving is thieving, lets not try and use a new word to hide the actual fact.
If MSM use this information relating to the very private lives of the “Stars” there could be an interesting outcome.
The Women’s Weekly et al., etc.,etc., will of course take the moral high ground and not use the information that has been stolen regarding their bread and butter “stars”.
A rule for some and a rule for others.

The Police make major arrests relating to manufacture of methamphetamine in Whangarei. Appears to be related to the Head Hunters.
Was there not a TV program not so long ago promoting the gang as law abiding.
There are always a few rotten apples in the barrel. From all accounts some very wealthy rotten apples.
To me these drug manufacturers and pushers are the scourge of society, they are not doing it for religious belief (a very minute excuse for terrorism) but simply and purely for their own profit and generally at the expense of someone else’s ultimate life. There is no “higher” calling involved.

Mr Key did not look himself on TV News tonight. His tie was crooked , a button was undone. What could be the problem. Had he been smoking something funny? Did he have a quickie with his secretary? Or has Cameron got the dirty on him that is going to come out in the near future.
