BG2: Where does the weight you lose actually go?

And while we’re at it, if any of you can do this, you shouldn’t be part of BG2

I’m sore just watching that.

Good to see a lot of BG2-ers updating their stats.  Not so good to see I am the top of the BMI list!  Had a bit of a stall, so it looks like today and tomorrow are going to be fasting days to kick the process off again.

I do believe in making small changes, because they are more likely to be ones you’ll stick to.  And you will be equally amazed how effective small changes can be.

Just one hour of exercise a week could be enough to reduce the risk of premature death.

Despite public health campaigns urging a daily 20-minute workout, experts say people should focus on the benefits of small increases in physical activity.

They say the weekly target of 150 minutes of ‘moderate intensity activity’ is beyond the reach of some, especially older people.

Articles published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) suggest that instead, people and public health bodies should focus on the benefits of small increases in daily physical activity.

More than a third (35.6 per cent) of adults worldwide are not sufficiently active, despite proof that too much sitting increases the risk of chronic diseases.

Dr Philipe de Souto Barreto, of Toulouse University Hospital, writing in the British Medical Journal, said improvements can be achieved by doing less.

A study of more than 250,000 adults aged 50 to 71 in the US found less than one hour of moderate physical activity a week or 20 minutes or more of vigorous activity once a week reduced the risk of premature death by 15 per cent and 23 per cent respectively.

Once a week.   Can you do once a week?

Don’t underestimate the little changes.  They’re adding years to your life.  Literally.

I would like to see someone use this as their work station

      Sorry problem downloading image.

I’ve always wondered if that would work, or if I would do it, or how stinky the office would be at the end of the day.
I think on days where I really need to concentrate on work I wouldn’t be able to walk at the same time.

I have enough trouble watching the iPad screen on my treadmill without working a keyboard – that’s multitasking at the upper end.

    All that CO2 from burning fat! I can see the Labour Party suggesting a new carbon tax (-;

The correct answer, according to a website I just googled, is that most of the mass is breathed out as C02. Not forgetting it’s also secreted out of the body via urine, bowel movements, sweat, breath.

I wish all you people would stop losing your weight – – it all seems to be finding its way to my place. ;-)

I’d be happy to send some more – still have plenty to share. But you cant blame me this week because the one kilo I lost went to my dog. She was at the vets yesterday and has put on a kilo. So now she is seriously dieting with me.

Thanks. That’s my learning for the day as I didn’t know what happened to the fat. Definitely inspires me to exercise now and if I get uninspired I’ll play the clip again to remind me why I’m doing it. Who knew all that puffing and panting is actually good for breathing out fat.

  • la la land

I have started walking for 30 mins to 1 hour at 7am – I am loving it so much I get pretty grumpy now if I can’t go for some reason. It feels good to start the day off on a good note… And I eat breakfast before I go otherwise I am starving when I get back and lose any shred of self control! Tomorrow I will imagine fat exhaling out my mouth as I go!
