First they came for our cartoons now our hugs are in the firing line

A video of a Korean pop band embracing teenage girls in Malaysia has attracted heavy criticism and triggered a debate over the behaviour of young Muslim women in the country.

Several girls, giggling and sometimes hesitant, can be seen acting out scenes from Korean dramas with different members of the band, all of which end in friendly hugs. A band member also kisses one girl on the top of her head.

Islamic authorities for Kuala Lumpur, where the meeting took place, have said they will investigate the incident for possible violations of Sharia law, and have called on the girls involved to come forward to assist in the inquiry.

Islam is the religion of no cartoons and no hugs, no homosexuals, no women’s rights and no freedom of speech but they are apparently the religion of Peace if you ignore all the violence, massacres, stonings, hangings, amputations of hands and feet, floggings, acid in the face and the fact that Husbands are allowed to beat their wives whether or not they are 9 years old or 90.

Yeah, right. As if the girls are going to “come forward to assist in the inquiry”, knowing they’ll get lashed for being innocent and stoned for being guilty.

    • intelligentes candida diva

No they may not want to but I think chances are high there will be those who will be pushing them forward for sharia laws repugnant punitiveness.

    • oldmanNZ

Now we know why they wear full veil to hide there faces

  • sheppy

What puzzles me about all this is the total silence of the feminists – is womans rights something that only applies to the west?

  • OneTrack

But, but, the left say we just need to give muslims more hugs and everything will be resolved.

  • cows4me

Left to their own devices these insane lunatics would kill off themselves. In the end the western world will have to save them from themselves. How anyone of this faith can support Sharia Law and believe they will have any sort of life is delusional in the extreme. Those supporting these evilness are destined to a life of hell.

    • BR

They are already doing just that. The biggest killer of Muslims is other Muslims.

    • Matt Pearce

Kill off themselves? are you kidding me? do you know how many babies they have?

Destined to a life of Control, that is what it is all about. They all think that they will be the Fat Controller

Hmmn. No hugs eh? Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah….. . The socialists don’t like hugs either. They want to ban them in schools, remember.

Scary when Malaysia has the same Westminster system as us. Does Sharia law erode into that system? How far does Sharia Law intrude into an individual’s life? Would be interesting to see if it affects non-Muslims. Lots to see here.

    • dgrogan

If you can’t hug someone, obviously Sharia Law intrudes far too far into a secular state. The two are obviously not compatible. If these high Muslim population democracies surrender their sovereignty to Muhammad, they are doomed.

Edit: Bet Roger Sutton would hate the place.

      • 1951

Yup, sadly the Malay (Muslims), who are equivalent to Tangata te whenua, have reign over the rest of the population. I guess they are likely to give up more of their freedoms the Commonwealth bestowed/bequeathed them as they readily believe the religion is of more importance. It’s a watch&see case.

“Islam is the religion of no homosexuals”. Well, I for one don’t believe that. I would give odds on there being as many Muslim homosexuals hiding in cupboards as we had before it was OK to “come out”.

    • Intrigued

You are right there. In Iran they are apparently trying to deal with the homosexual problem by providing state funded gender reassignment surgery. I saw a fascinating BBC documentary about it on TV a few months ago in NZ (can’t remember the channel) and the dreadful thing about it was that gay men and women were being pressured into believing they were trapped in the wrong body and then having the surgery to change their sex but it wasn’t that these individuals wanted to change their sex – they were just homosexuals attracted to their own sexes. They all reported extremes of despair, confusion, suicidal tendencies after the sex changes as you would expect.
It seems that the ruling Muslim clerics will stop at nothing to enforce Sharia law, even going to these extremes with nothing but a life of fear and misery for their people.

      • caochladh

It takes a strong majority of good guys to permanently change an evil empire and I guess that is not going to happen any time soon in Iran.

    • steve and monique

or at least a couple of Goat herders. Or similar.

  • steve and monique

Hang on a minute…possible breeches of Sharia Law? You’re not in your stone aged sand pit now, you are in another part of the world where they live by different rules and laws – none of which obviously are yours, if you don’t like it, you know what you can do and I doubt you will be missed much, if at all. Just because you over populate a country it doesn’t mean a majority rule – remember that.

  • Toasty

You would have to be off your rocker to come forward and assist in the enquiry! Thats a bit like “Step forward so we can stone you”.
