Just logged in to express the same sentiment, Whafe.
Noticed the Sensible Sentencing had their site hacked today.
I look forward to 2015 being the year these criminals are rounded up and dealt to.
That, and world peace and safety for small furry animals, of course!

Max Keiser @maxkeiser tweets “Incredibly, this is probably the healthiest, sanest guy in NZ : ) 2015 is the year @KimDotcom beats the MPAA.”

    • Imogen B

How is an obese raging narcissist the healthiest or sanest person in NZ?

    • NotGandalf

I am not sure how a grown man-child wearing a giant black fart-sack is healthy or sane but hey, you gotta make your own fun when you have lost most of your friends and co-conspirators.

      • New year party. No Mrs. No kids. No… anyone.

Happy New Year to you all. Thanks Whaleoil and team, don’t think I would have kept my sanity through the election without reading whaleoil and the reasoned debate from the commentators. Looking forward to a great year ahead and wish you all health, wealth and happiness and that Freed will be a fantastic success.

  • la la land

  • steve and monique

Happy new year all. Looking forward to a great year.

  • NotGandalf

Well 2014 was certainly a year. Heres hoping 2015 is another one! But seriously, I pray that common sense abounds in all things this year, that we keep holding ourselves and our Government to account for both words spoken and actions undertaken. I hope NZ as a whole sees undemocratic and extremist views for what they are and pours sunlight onto the lives of the seedy and the duplicitous. Finally I wish you all love, good health and success this year!

  • Captain Darling

Happy new year to all, may 2015 exceed your wildest expectations.

Happy New Year. I see this post went up at mid night, good one Whale oil, always diligent.
I hope your blog reaches the potential you have for it in 2015.

2014 was my first year coming here ….what a ride, I want to take a moment to reflect:
I don’t always like what I find here but its not my blog, Im a visitor, I don’t always agree with what I read but that is normal and healthy in all aspects of life.

I have been challenged by certain commenters and in so being learned more i.e. what trolling meant, more about posted topics, & what great online support meant by other commenters.
I felt safe here commenting although initially at times a tad nervous to comment if my view may be controversial but did anyway and result support, challenges respect and enjoyable interactions.
I learned so much about various politicians resulting in being influential in my voting (I’m no pushover).
I enjoyed the engagement with other blog commenters.
I loved and still do Proverbs, FOTD, and POTD, regular features that challenge, motivate, inspire, impress and or amuse me, TY for these regular features.
I became engrossed in certain topic themes for the diligent research evident, that had regular posts e.g.Gaza/Israe/Hamas and propaganda, very good stuff.
Certain descriptive concepts within various posts e.g. Pimping the poor, made me laugh out loud just knowing it would rattle cages but in actuality was correct.
Pimping the poor, always grabbed my attention because I soon learned here that the style of these posts looked beyond the surface issue, (I think that might be called Investigative journalism) which is what I like when I hear/read news, I dont want to be left wondering about this and that or having questions because the story is incomplete.
This blog made me cry at the sensitive disclosure of many personal stories for that I felt gratitude, humbled by others courage and encouraged as 2014 was not a good year for me due to “stuff”
The regular exposure to the history of WW1, after all this is our time of remembrance, a time never to be regained, I think it is a special time and we are all privileged to be the ones carrying on the legacies of that mother of events.
I love music and through this blog via Mental Health break and commenters I have added various new music to my collection.

Thank you Whale Oil Beef Hooked for your contributions to our modern world in news conveyance, keep it up I for one enjoy this blog immensely because of its rawness, variation, and sense of equality.

    • Whafe

Fantastic post, dam I love Whaleoil, keeps me sane….

Happy New Year oilers. Here’s hoping 2015 will be just as exciting and thought provoking as 2014. I’ve got a feeling its going to be a doozie. WOBH is my 1st port of call every day, thanks to all who tell it like it is and are not afraid to do so.

  • steve and monique

Happy New Year to the Whale Oil team and all the avid followers. Let’s continue our high standards of intelligent and thought provoking debate and give these second rate blog sites something to aspire to.

  • Janus was the Roman God of doorways and was often depicted with two faces, one looking forward and one back. January is named after him and he was prayed to for good fortune by those who passed through the door into the future.
To all Oilers, Cam and family, Pete, the Mods and all like minded souls, may 2015 be the year when we are Freed and we begin to see some honest, informed and realistic debate. Have a great year one and all!
