Is Metiria Turei trying to take the mantle of the Nasty Party off Labour?

Evil Kermit

Metiria Turei has had a mad rant at Ratana in the annual pilgrimage of politicians to get lectured at by people who will never vote for you.

Greens co-leader Metiria Turei launched a stinging attack on John Key in his absence at Ratana today, saying his view of New Zealand’s history was “warped, outrageous and deeply offensive”.

She also said Mr Key was a prime example of the “ignorant, uneducated Pakeha” economist Gareth Morgan had talked about the day before.

Ms Turei took aim at Mr Key’s recent comments that New Zealand was settled peacefully and that Maori would have welcomed the capital European settlers brought.

“The Prime Minister’s warped and outrageous view of history is deeply offensive to Maori but it also undermines decades of effort by Maori and Pakeha, including even by his own Government, to address some of the historic wrongs and encourage an understanding of New Zealand’s true history.”

Ms Turei had intended to make the comments in a speech at Ratana Pa, but time shortage meant she did not get the chance to speak.

So let’s get some headlines and have a crack at Key whose government has settled generously more treaty claims than any other government and brought in the Maori party to government even when their vote hasn’t been needed to give Maori a voice….hell that isn’t good enough for the Greens who prefer Labour who patronise and have never done anything for Maori despite being propped up by the Greens for 9 years.

She wasn’t even allowed to deliver her speech but the MSM felt the need to spruik an undelivered speech!

Surely they should have run with unhappy fat bint from an unelectable party whose snout is deeply buried in the trough despite horrendously bad polling results over 15 years has a crack at popular PM who has settled more treaty claims than anyone has ever, rather than their rather sensational headlines.

She couldn’t even deliver her hate speech because she was manoeuvred out of the way to save embarrassment all round, the MSM is happy to uncritically report any made up bollocks the Greens can come up with.

She says John Key is “warped, outrageous and deeply offensive”. Well I find the Green party equally warped, they are certainly outrageous with their demands to ban more than 100 things in New Zealand and I do find them offensive given the large numbers of deaths green parties worldwide are responsible for with their batshit crazy policies.

We should let Turei speak more often though so people can see just how vicious and nasty the Green party really is.

Lives in castle, and gets paid from the taxpayer funds. Sounds like she has delusions of grandeur, and is happy to suck the taxpayer tittie. Yup sounds like some Maori to me, eh Tuku Morgan.

    • Wheninrome

She’s all class, check out the actual castle.

      • steve and monique

Smacks of hypocrisy to me, when you grizzle about the white fullas, and you live in a castle, which is a symbol of power in European countries. A Whare made of Ponga’s, and Flax etc would be more fitting.

This is great news that they have (again)learned absolutely nothing from the last election and continue to pitch their appeal to the fringe and not the mainstream. Gareth the self proclaimed expert on absolutely everything will be a great help to them.

    • cows4me

That useless tit Gareth should stand for parliament but that would be so embarrassing to his ego , better to open your mouth and let the dribble flow now and then.

      • PsychoKea

I really think Gareth is a top contender for idiot of the year, even though the competition is stiff

        • cows4me

Dead right Psychokea, I would hate to be the judge of that competition, would need a truck load of prizes for runner ups.

  • Richard

But wait a minute….isn’t PM Key at the overseas summit on how to reduce the gap between rich & poor and save Materials 250,000 poverty stricken children?

I guess only living gods like Russell and Material can be omnipresent.

    • ex-JAFA

Wussel’s been omniabsent for weeks – and I’m lovin’ it!

  • Curious

I think it is great the MSM chooses to allow her publicity and she uses it to remind all thinking Kiwi’s why despite historic conditions The Greens can only find 11% of our population stupid enough to vote for them.

    • Murray Smith

11% is still an alarming figure.

      • Ilovelife

I guess you can expect a total of 11% made up of incredibly immature young people who think being green saves the world and addled ageing hippies hoping that their wasted lives will have some meaning. Nutters the lot of them.

  • Bart67

It blew my mind that opposition politicians said that John Key should have been at Ratana! Did they not realise where he was and what he was doing? He did more for ALL New Zealanders at Davos than he could ever do with a visit to Ratana! The simple fact that the Greens and Labour cannot, or will not, acknowledge that truth is just another reason why they are unfit to govern. They are completely disconnected from reality, living in an ideological fantasy that will do nothing but destroy our economy and social framework. A pox on them!

    • Luis Cannon

In a parallel universe with Islam, the ideology of hate.

    • PsychoKea

They are just jealous that they don’t have any other appointments to go to but Ratana !

  • Sally

If the Greens wish to continue this way they will have to revisit their values.
    No 6 on the list
    “Engage respectfully, without personal attacks”

    • Watcher

Best they don’t revisit Sally, value number six allows mainstream NZ’s to point out exactly what you have, each and every time they blurt insults and hate utterings.

    • OneTrack

I think they are using the Muslim playbook – the ruled don’t apply when dealing with the Tories (may Gaia spit on their grave).

  • Wallace Westland

The absence of Key at Ratana gives me hope that the kowtowing to Maori may finally be coming to end, while at the same time in Davos he is driving us forward to a better future.
Why would any modern leader want to be seen at a ceremonial gathering to celebrate another “prophet” and used as an opportunity to attempt to humiliate and belittle said leader anyway?
Time we started focusing on the future not some mystic past handed down by leaders that wanted to control everyone else….oh….right….yes now I see. Metiria!
Metiria can’t even control her mouth never mind who votes for her lazy worthless troughing butt.

    • Cadwallader

Good thought, but we still need to get past NZ’s Day of The Tribalist Bludgers on 6th February. I can only hope JK stays away from that hideous marae at Waitangi. I suppose Hone will have little else to do this year so he may appear semi-naked waving a club and using that traditional form of greeting he so reveres “….you colonialist mofos go home and let us mooordi govern ourselves on your $$$!” (Something to that effect.)

      • Mick Ie

Repetitive night-marae at Waitangi more like. Roll on New Zealand Day.

        • OneTrack

Sorry, but that ship has well and truly sailed. The progressives would never allow it.

      • Luis Cannon

The Pigs of Islam do it better.

        • Cadwallader

I regard Islamos as just another gang of tribalists attempting to run the world without beauty and forethought. Not dissimilar to the Greenies.

          • Rocket

I’ve several times seen MSM references to an affinity between moslem and maori, with even some tangata whenua conversions to islam.
Tribalism is the root disease and an anathema to all who stand with individual dignity.

      • Huia

Dear Lord another night of Titty Fie on the tv.
I am what used to be called a half caste maori so walk in both worlds. Waitangi makes me angry and sad. What could be a really special celebration by an evolving population, has been hijacked by radicals who all turn up in their bus loads and are fed by the taxpayer and locked in the past, they are able to turn up because the majority don’t work. Its a free day out where you get to blame the Colonials for all the ills in your world.
Would rather go to the gatherings of all ethic people and celebrate where NZ is going, not what has happened in the past.

  • Old Man, Torbay.

As I’m white I must also be an “ignorant, uneducated Pakeha”.

Yes Ms Turei, when all else fails draw the race card.

    • OneTrack

      It’s all she’s got.

  • Luis Cannon

What with Motor Mouth Morgan and Motor Mouth Turei trying to get on the bandwagon of the Maori grievance industry you’d have to think that Maori were hopeless at pushing their own barrow. Turei should crawl back into her Cowards Castle and tend her dandelions until John Key comes back from overseas.

    • Dumrse

Morgan is looking to be Labours next PM, he needs to start somewhere. This is just the begining so there is loads more of his trash/crap still to come.

    • D.Dave

They may each be a ‘motor mouth’, but the problem is that Turei is a “Trabant” and Morgan is a “1970’s Lada”.

      • Tom

Actually she might need as many wheels as a jumbo being weight challenged as she is.

  • Shane M

Have just been reading about this on stuff. Yesterday, Greens embedded journalist A. Vance, was reporting this speech as having occurred, now in a seperate article, the speech did not occur and the previous one has been updated to reflect that.
It comes across as very desperate reporting to attack Key with something that didn’t happen.

    • Watcher

Average Kiwis can see right through the MSM and loyal opposition facade, and that fact is reflected in the latest Roy Morgan poll.

Opposition members must be choking on their Weetbix this morning. Love it.

      • TSD

And neither the left nor the media understand that average Kiwi’s are actually intelligent and feel insulted by creative writers (of high school level skill) and members of an outdated ideologue who think they know better.

    • Cadwallader

Yep. I am reminded of the old line from the Goon Show: “…when suddenly, NOTHING happened but it happened all of a sudden!” This seems to sum up the visit to Ratana by Little Angry and the Greenie co-Leader.
Ms Turei obviously spends many $$$$ on clothes but her vocabulary records that no matter how she packages herself her persona is truly rotten. She may be better off sending out a posse to find her friend who is missing in his inaction.
If this week’s non-events are indicative of Lab/Greens approach to being embedded in opposition perhaps they are installing National as a government in perpetuity.

      • Shane M

During the election, I was actually surprised at how vile this woman is. Russel, I found somewhat endearing at times, but the personal spite this woman displayed showed her true character and it was not pretty.

        • Cadwallader

I suppose that if you are a person without any rational thoughts to provide a moral compass you need to resort to gut-bile to mask your shortcomings. The words she used to try to befoul the duly elected PM of this country are despicable and treasonous. In the expectation that this creature can read, I trust she is looking long and hard at WO today.
Why do we need to support this garbage on the sad 50th anniversary of the death of Winston Churchill? He was the embodiment of the brave, educated and considered leader of humanity. Where is the next Churchill?

        • TSD

Russel was admittedly occasionally endearing in a cute but rather limited child trying so hard to be half as good as his more talented brother kind of way. Which is fine if that child is not in a position to affect anybody’s life… He even went to the playground to see if he could get some help as he was so incompetent in grown up thinking or influence.

Remember the attempt at economics with the money printing thing. JK said it openly and accurately – “cute”

    • OneTrack

Still haven’t seen anything yet from the Green’s other embedded jornolist – Rachel Smalley.

  • TSD

And referencing Gareth must remove any last tendril of reality from her speech. This is a man so stupid that he actually thought his government controlled tour of North Korea somehow related to the real world. And worse then that, he even admitted it openly!

So when he comes to talk about our own history, I’m sorry but there is simply no way he can be taken seriously, that would be much to dangerous.

    • Gareth is a graduate of the Nicky Hagar – Joe Karam Book Marketing School.

      • Wheninrome

Heaven help us if they banded together to become a political party !!

    • metalnwood

Yep, referencing Gareth is just stupid. If you wanted to it just opens up so many holes to any Maori argument. We cant hold them to agreements because we were ripping them off but they can hold us to agreements we made on threat of being eaten lol.

    • OneTrack

I’m with Gareth. Maori thought they were signing something else, so let’s just cancel the whole thing. Job done, and everybody’s happy. Next problem.

      • Tom

Absolutely what a great idea. After all they are not indigenous so why the run around to keep them happy. They came here by transport like everyone else.

  • john Doe

Metiria must be putting epsom salts on her fruit loops again instead of sugar. Should have gone to Spec Savers.

  • oldmanNZ

Hmmm, i could use Turei line back at her, and describe her as a “ignorant, uneducated maori”, or does that sound racist?,

    • OneTrack

It’s ok when the left does it.

  • Cadwallader

About 30 years ago there was a film titled “Little Big Man” see where I am heading? The film was about a man alleged to be about 120 years old who claimed to be the last survivor of Custer’s Last Stand. It was never established that his memories were authentic. I don’t remember much else except that it featured Dustin Hoffman.
Now there have been many jokes about how Red Indians come by their names…
Little: Little Angry Rat (seems ideal)
    Turei: Chubby Bright Jacket

The list could go on, but I need something about the Pony Express for you know who!

    • Huia

Or ‘Loud woman from large tepee’ and ‘Little forked tongue’.
That book was a good read, didn’t see the movie but it was historically right so he could have done those things (with his own slant on them of course).

      • Cadwallader

How about “Man Sorry Man” for Cunners and “Dribbling Duck” for Mallard? “Little Boy Man” for Hey Clint?

  • Taser

Sometimes there are just more important things for the PM to do.

  • metalnwood

So this is where he was

‘Mr Key at the end of a day in which he hosted a breakfast with stars of the economic world, fund managers, Nobel laureates,’

On the other hand he could have been with little Andy and Meteria.. Doh

You dont have to be a rocket scientist to decide where you would rather be.

    • Wheninrome

Maybe not necessarily where you would rather be, but more by being in Davos serving the interests of New Zealand in the fullest and best possible manner to enhance New Zealand in the eyes of the world, surely what a Prime Minister should be doing, a no brainer.
Bill English was at Ratana, she really is a silly, self serving individual.

      • ozbob68

Nice to see Bill throw a few jabs at the Greens in interviews as well.

  • cows4me

Bloody cow, I find her deeply offensive. She wants to get that chip off her shoulder get off her fat bludging arse and get a real job. My whanau are Maori and they are successful hard working Kiwis. Let it go Turei, you do no one any favors by talking up crap that should have being over a 100 years ago.

  • PsychoKea

She should really go back to organizing mock battles with rolled up newspapers, I think that her talent peaked at that stage of her career

  • And that’s the difference: when you’re offended by the Green party, you could wake up the next day with leprosy!

    • Cadwallader

…and when you’re not offended by the Greenies you ought wake up in a mental asylum everyday!

  • jaundiced

She was offended that John Key wasn’t at Ratana?

I fail to see why it is seen as obligatory for politicians, let alone the PM, to roll up every year at a celebration of this tiny cult. It makes them look undignified and foolish.

    • Cadwallader

Yes, and what right does she have to be “offended” by his diary? Spare me the snotty self-importance of the Greenies.

    • Teletubby

More likely she was offended that she wasn’t at Davos

  • Catriona

    She is toxic, full stop.

  • Forrest Ranger

Did any National MPs go to Ratana? If so why did they bother? You wouldn’t know if they did – I certainly haven’t seen any on MSM.
What is the point of Ratana anyway other than to provide a platform for the same old tripe from the left?

    • Bill English was there and a few others

      • OneTrack

        The question is why.

  • Amanda Atkinson

Dear Materia. Do you ever smile? Do you ever have something helpful, positive and constructive to say? The fact you are constantly criticising our county tell the voters that you do not like our country. Why would they vote for you? Hello! If our country is so bad, and so awful, and so corrupt, please go find somewhere better to live. Look at the polls. Look at the elections result. No one believes you. Most of us Kiwis are actually happy, please believe me. Most of us. we really are OK out here, Maori and Non-Maori.

  • shykiwibloke

I love the picture – Nasty teeth and communistic red core wrapped up in a thin coat of cute furry green-ness. Should be the parties mascott!

  • Wheninrome

  • OneTrack

Completely off- topic, how many tons of carbon did Metiria burn to get to Ratana. Hasn’t she heard about something called Global Warming? Somebody (Russel?) should explain it to her.

It is possible that she rode a push-bike from Dunedin though. Yeah, that’s it.

    • More appropriately a broomstick

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

      She walked bro, she walked…

  • niggly

There was some criticism from some readers/commentators here in last night’s Whaleoil Backchat about why the Govt should bother to front up at Ratana etc. Late last night I replayed One News to see what actually happened at Ratana and seeing I’m usually a glass half-full person I saw it differently!

Unlike the annual Waitangi Day debacles/anger/protest/grievances etc, what I saw was a bit of “pomp and circumstance” i.e. with the uniformed and tailored brass bands (nice, as always).

Then people talking (including politicians) and being listened to respectfully (i.e. no shouting down, unlike at Waitangi).

And with the media coverage viewers then got to see an Angry Metiria Turei (which then reflects badly on the Greens, so from “our” perspectives that is always a good thing to see the Greens being tarred by their own despicable mud they fling around)! Plus we got to see Bill English politely sledge the Greens!

And with the media coverage viewers then got to see an Angry Andrew Little, moaning about having to walk on to the grounds with the Govt and other Party MP’s! Which was classic Angry Andy, because I actually thought it was a nice touch for all politicians to walk in unified – after all the politicans are meant to be the representatives of the people of NZ (something that Angry Andrew and Arrogant Labour/Greens forget – they ALL are our public servants)!

  • Johnny Bravo

She must know what she talking about as she has come from the top of the line political parties, She was a candidate for the McGillicuddy Serious Party in the 1993 election and for the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party in the 1996 election. I’d believe anything she says!

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

What a political lineage! The class really shows…

  • Curly1952

Words fail me with this poor excuse for a parliamentarian. If that is the best her and Wussel can come up with they are bigger idiots than I thought. (And I already think they are real bad idiots that give idiots a bad name)
The whole time the Greens & Labour rabbit on about John Key in a personal manner, he and the National Party are taking more and more of their ground with sound economic policies..When they wake up (which they won’t) National will have taken a bigger slice of the electorate from under their noses
NZers are not interested in this type of politics and the looney left are too dumb to realise it.

  • I.M Bach

She blurts out that Key is an “ignorant, uneducated Pakeha” but how far would you get calling her an “ignorant, uneducated Maori” before someone would call you a racist? She’s a waste of space, a lot of space.

    • kayaker

      I resent paying her salary.

    • MAWG

One hardly needs to state something that is so self evident…

      • I.M Bach

My apologies, you’re right, like me, and she’s left.

The greens continue their successful policy of personally attacking JK. I think they should conduct a few focus groups to see what the public think.

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

She is truly a very poor representative of her race and the greens, if they matter to anyone. The Ratana movement has always been about peace and mutual cooperation, albeit largely labour supportive. I wonder what some of the elders thought of this feral lickspittle’s utterances against the elected leader of NZ. Presumably probably not very much. God I wish her and her idiot off-sider would just go away.

  • Phill

I am reminded of Chris Finlayson’s description of her…..
    “What a disgusting little creature”

    • conwaycaptain

Little????? A wide as a Taranaki 5 bar fgate

  • Alright

I posted this link of Key at Devos late yesterday but given this mad woman’s rant it is worth re-posting. This is how our Prime Minister performs on the world stage.

Eat your hearts out Metiria and Andrew…..

    • All_on_Red

Thanks, he’s a pretty special man. We’re very lucky to have him.

      • jude

There is no politician in any of the Opposition parties that could be as articulate as John Key .Especially if the subject is global finance/economics
That interview should be shown on MSM ,but won’t be.

        • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Fat One can also can talk economics…..Green Economics aka living off fish and coconut water and wearing Kemp skirts…Can Key do that?

          • jude

I strongly suspect he could! He would probably back it up with facts, figures and examples of why Green economics fail!!

    • IntrinsicValue

Thanks for the link. Every time I think of Little, Norman or Turei giving an interview like this it gives me nightmares.

      • Alright

Your lucky. I have to sit on the toilet for hours.

    • Cadwallader

Thanks for that. I tried to imagine Little Angry as PM of NZ being interviewed by the polished interviewer shown. I tried but couldn’t get there.
As for the interviewer, well all I can say, she doesn’t bear the sour amateurishness of Smallybrain. There are some people who fit the world stage and others who can’t climb up the few steps to it. This excerpt ought be mandatory viewing for all of NZ’s msm.

      • Alright

Agreed, all counts – except they are not “small steps” for some to get to the top. Its why (for example) the Greens have been also-rans for 15 years :)

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Handy Andy talking world economics? Spare me some change sir….

        • ex-JAFA

Is it true that WCC moved to installing charity boxes in Cuba Mall to fund the beggars because lefty politicians would steal from the beggars’ collection hats?

    • JKV

Thanks for that. The one thing that shines through for me is JK’s straight talking and sunny optimism as opposed the the left’s negativity and perpetual whining (see above). What an asset he is to our country. We are truly blessed among nations.

      • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

Most of the countries will be very happy to exchange their leaders for John Key…..may we should exchange the Fat One with North Korea. Can’t be any worse….

    • Sir Cullen’s Sidekick

I don’t think the Fat chick has the mental capcity to even understand what the PM is saying….She is of the type who thinks Reserve Bank is an Australian controlled bank taking profits away from ordinary Kiwis who have taken home loan from Reserve Bank….

      • Alright

What!! The New Zealand Reserve Bank is a listed subsidiary of the Australian Reserve Bank! This is great! I think John Key is chairman of the board! I’ll buy shares! Do you have the listing code?

  • Left Right Out

Here’s what I don’t get…. there are no full blooded Maori left (sadly) and these people who rant on about the Pakeha are Pakeha themselves…. why do they not embrace their heritage, why do they only look from one side…. and then tell me what I should be sorry for.

I love the Maori culture, have no maori blood biut believe that being a kiwi mean’s embacing Maori culture….

  • Bryan

she does not really back true Green policy but is a communist wolf in very strange clothing with a liberal element thrown in, and will sound off nice sound bites but has no real policy behind the statements, and has no idea where real wealth comes from, but sure as anything wants to take it all off you and me and distribute it to all her causes.
This is the party that is 75% funded by the taxpayer salaries and has not ONE SEAT to which they are accountable and they don’t want to be

    • Luis Cannon

Confirmed. Went to a candidates meeting in Napier before the last election. The lazy sod of a Green candidate only wanted party votes. Might have to actually do some work for his electorate otherwise. The Greens are little more than a windbag propaganda machine appealing to the retarded for votes to push their agenda of hate. In a word: DUPLICITOUS

  • Dumrse

Perhaps we need the UN to declare this woman’s constant bitching as hate speech and legislate against the Lardo accordingly.

    • benniedawg

Agree totally but with such a compliant and ever worshiping MSM, who would crawl across an acre of broken glass just to sniff the diesel exhaust of the truck that took here tammies to the tip, I somehow don’t think this is ever likely to happen. An appropriate headline might have been “Insulting comments by minor opposition party person detracts from Ratana celebrations”

  • kehua

Not allowed to speak more likely, how can a speech be a speech when it is not delivered vocally to the intended audience? What a dropkick this woman is.

“We should let Turei speak more often though so people can see just how vicious and nasty the Green party really is.” – that says it all for me. More she talks, the bettr it is for National….Still 11% support for the toxic Greens….way too high….they shouldn’t be more than 5% – 6% in my view…Fat one is doing a good job of reducing the support with her mad rantings….

The benchmark for a nations mental health at any point in time is roughly 20%. That the National government has got it down to 11% is truly remarkable. A figure of 5% would require Key to be elevated from PM to Sainthood. A little way to go yet.
