Muslim of the Year – Muslim Mayor of Rotterdam tells Islamists to f*ck off on live television

Ahmed-Aboutaleb-Mayor-Rotterdam

Breitbart reports on the Muslim Mayor of Rotterdam who told Islamists to f*ck off on live television.

The mayor of an ethnically diverse European city has earned the praise of London mayor Boris Johnson after expressing exasperation with fellow Muslims who failed to appreciate the freedoms enjoyed in the Western world, telling them to “pack your bags”.

Speaking to the NewsHour current affairs programme just hours after the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris, Mayor Aboutaleb became angered by the failure of some Muslims to adapt to their new homes, as he himself had done.

Mayor Aboutaleb said: “It is incomprehensible that you can turn against freedom… But if you don’t like freedom, for heaven’s sake pack your bags and leave.

“There may be a place in the world where you can be yourself, be honest with yourself and do not go and kill innocent journalists. And if you do not like it here because humorists you do not like make a newspaper, may I then say you can f*** off.

“This is stupid, this so incomprehensible. Vanish from the Netherlands if you cannot find your place here. All those well-meaning Muslims here will now be stared at”.

Aboutaleb, a Moroccan-born Muslim and former journalist took up the office of Mayor in 2008 now presides over one of a number of European cities where ethnic minorities and non-natives make up over half of the population. Although his appointment as mayor was criticised initially by anti-Islam parties in the Netherlands, who demanded he give up his dual Moroccan citizenship, he has since worked to prove his worth.

Well done.

Unfortunately for him I think he will be the next Dutch target of intolerant Islamists.

Succinct, unambiguous and to the point. Why can’t we have politicians like that here?

  • MaryLou

Can we add Politician of the Year? We should be hearing exactly this from all civic leaders, everywhere.

  • kayaker

If any article needs a big fat LIKE button, it’s this one!

  • Spiker

A Labour polititan even, according to the story I read earlier.

  • G-Man

Wow! Mayors unite….oh wait, Len are you there?? Hello?? Len?? doh

    • The2Game

Erm, the only ‘uniting’ Len is into involves the Ngati Whatua Room at the Auckland Town Hall…

  • Cadwallader

This mayor obviously doesn’t have a secret bathroom to cower in. He is an honorable man. I would expect Boris to repeat these sentiments.

As Napoleon said to Goethe, “Here’s a man”

  • tinfoilhatguy

Kudos to that guy. This is honesty and bravery the world needs without exception. Unfortunately those words can only be said by a muslim. If a non-muslim politician was to say the same thing, they would be vilified and branded a racist and islamophobe.

    • MaryLou

Disagree – it must be said by all people who live here who feel that way, but particularly by those who we’ve elected to represent us.

Having said that, I agree the fact that he is Muslim AND Labour means it’s harder to argue with!

  • Dairy_Flat

To ALL NZ politicians, take note of this because you are very shortly going to be in a position where you will be forced to pick which side you are on. Heads in the sand will not be acceptable for much longer as forces on both sides of the fence will be looking for clarity on where you stand on Islamic extremism. This man deserves our respect.

  • bristol

Problem is, the likes of ISIS, Al Qaeda et al, would regard him as ‘not a proper Muslim’, and should the day of reckoning ever come, his head will surely roll for siding with the enemies of Allah.

Had to just say Bristol, I just came across earlier comment below from a few days ago… made me laugh and was a welcome respite. Chur

“That’s the trouble with Muslim kids these days, they blow up so fast!”

Is it too much to ask for our leaders to espouse the same values and principles as the principled and enlightened Mayor of Rotterdam has – be they Muslim or not?
I see Angela Merkel has taken part in a march calling for tolerance towards Islam in Germany.

I have no fear or problem with anyone being a Muslim if they espouse the same values and principals as the Mayor of Rotterdam but I have no tolerance for terrorism for the spread or defence of Islam which is what too many of the latter verses of the Quran and Mohammed’s Hadiths prescribe.

Now is the time to make a stand and say we have NO TOLERANCE FOR ISLAMIC TERRORISM!

Now is the time for Muslims wanting to enjoy the freedoms, values and protections for all, offered in the modern civilised and democratic world to adopt a modern secular interpretation of Islam promoted by organisations such as the Free Muslims Coalition [http://www.freemuslims.org/issues/modern-islam.php] founded by Kamal Nawash.

They believe in an interpretation of the Quran that is peace-loving, democracy-loving and compatible with other faiths and beliefs. They seem to be among the few American-Muslim organisations willing to attack and denounce extremism and terrorism. They also call for the dismantling of Hezbollah which most mainstream Muslim organisations refuse to do.
On the recent Paris terrorist massacre of Charlie Hebdo staff, Kamal Nawash a Palestinian born American lawyer, who describes himself as a conservative Muslim said:
“All newspapers must show solidarity by printing the vilest parodies against Islam so that the criminals who oppose freedom of speech will know that their intimidation will never pay off,”
“Even if the parodies will make me feel uncomfortable as a Muslim, it must be done so that the criminal terrorists will know that they will not succeed. The parodies must be done to protect freedom of speech, and it must be done to honor the memory of the martyrs (French journalists) who were killed for exercising their God-given freedom of thought.”

These are the views that need to be sung from the rooftops, played on all media and printed boldly in our newspapers, so that like minded Muslims can demand within their communities the eradication of the terrorist ideology being preached in their mosques and madrassas. That is the only hope ultimately for Islam to survive in the modern world and to prevent the needless bloodshed of millions in the coming years.

    • Coffee Connoisseur

Can somebody please send this to the Herald.

      • Intrigued

Honestly if I thought they would print it I would – but sadly I think these views on the issue would not fit into their narrative. I’m just waiting to be Freed!

  • LinkinHawk

He still preys to the same kiddy raping Prophet that all the other nutjobs do, no better than all the other Muslim maggots in my humble opinion.

    • Coffee Connoisseur

As opposed to the boy raping Catholic Priests from Christianity of course. Perhaps we should simply outlaw religion. Not really possible but boy would it solve a lot of problems.

      • LinkinHawk

Stephan Hawking nailed it a couple of years ago, im with him.

    • G-Man

i work with a couple of those “maggots” and they are anything but, maybe you should have a wee rest and try to be a bit more rational about the whole situation

      • LinkinHawk

Would you be so kind as to ask said maggots, there thoughts on preying to a child rapist .

        • G-Man

and while im at it why dont i just complete the census by asking every christian why they prey to a fairy living in the sky- because people are entitled to their opinion and way of life and not to be lumped in with any extremists that share some of the same beliefs

          • LinkinHawk

You are confused, let me be clear. the prophet Mohammed married a 6 year old girl ,they consummated the marrage when she was 9, that is not extremist nor opinion its fact ,a core part of the Muslim faith

Hooray a politician who gets it right.

  • Wheninrome

    Go you good man

  • symgardiner

Fantastic. Typical response to him… he’s too right wing.

  • Andrew Gibson

If more people/leaders expressed their views like this, the problem would disappear: too many targets.

    • Jdogg

Bang on. Western leaders need to stand up and be counted on all sides of the political spectrum.
When you look at the EU – how lucky are we that Sharia law hasn’t insidiously snuck and embedded its way onto our political landscapes, how do you undo all of that damage?
Seems to me they’re sitting on a powder keg over there.
Where do OUR leaders stand on the political ideaology packaged up as religion.
I know too many UK/EU immigrants that have escaped to our fair shores because of the wishy washy sentiments over there. Let’s hope our leaders will not be so weak when it comes to stand strong, sooner rather than later.
