The difference between a cartoon that lets you live and the one that makes you die

Here’s the one where Christians didn’t raid the offices of Charlie Hebdo and shoot 12 people for insulting Jesus Christ

werwer

And here is one that did…

435345

Just an hour before the Charlie Hebdo attack, the French satirical magazine posted the image of an ISIS leader with the words ‘best wishes.’ The weekly has a history of publishing controversial cartoons of world religions, cultures, and political leaders.

A black and white cartoon of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was tweeted by Charlie Hebdo just an hour before gunmen attacked the newspaper’s Paris office, killing 10 journalists and two policemen.

The jihadist leader is seen raising the index finger on his right hand – a symbol which is commonly understood among radical Islamists as an allusion to ‘tawhid,’ the belief in the oneness of God in the Muslim religion. While holding up a single finger in this manner, militants are usually expressing their dedication to this ideology – some underlying principles of which demand the destruction of the West.

A caption on the image reads: “al-Baghdadi also wishes…especially health.”

Anyone who tries to rationalise this as anything other than an attack against the free world by Islamic fundamentalists, anyone who tries to slant it, anyone who tries to minimise it, or anyone that says the victims have their part of the blame to carry…

…you are a danger to the rest of us.

Stop the world!! I want to get off.

I dont understand the rules anymore

    • Davo42

The current rule of the world as I understand it is: Shoot first, don’t ask questions later.

  • thehawkreturns

No credit to the Herald.. I could find the word “Muslim” only once at the end of the entire two page article on this latest atrocity, and only in relation to one of the murdered policemen. No “Islam” at all. Their own cartoonist Emmerson pulled his punches too – carefully not implying Islam had anything to do with it… just some hooded radicals. Yeah right. Even NZ MSM is running scared. And the thousands of middle class candlelight holders in the cities of Europe? When will they wake up?

  • Mark Chapman

Interesting call on the Petit Jesus cover not causing a mass shooting – possibly the most likely source of fundamentalist Christian outrage would be the USA ? Not only are they too geographically removed, but they also already have their hands full persecuting another whole raft folk who they deem to be misfits ?

    • Another Middleagedwhiteguy

Yep, they (US bureaucratic establishment) are too busy persecuting another whole raft folk who they deem to be misfits – the freedom-loving and the fundamentalist Christian.

  • Damon Mudgway

I am becoming almost numb to the endless, mindless, aggression by Islam against those who dare not to believe. What will it take for any Western countries governing bodies to actually do something, other than reactive, about this abomination, this cancer overtaking civilisation?

Sooner or later we are going to see mass civil unrest, but not before many, many more attacks by Islamists on easy targets. Do we, as citizens, parents, lovers of the freedoms previously fought for, take up arms ourselves in revolt?

As a police officer I was trained to use the force required in the circumstances to ‘incapacitate’ an offender. I can’t remember ever being trained to shoot an already incapacitated threat in the head at point blank range.

Terrorists have no Geneva convention to hinder them, no conscience of good will, no common law thought pattern governing their actions. Sharia law is their bedfellow, and when you go to bed with your only thoughts being of domination by any means necessary, how would any sane person think one could appeal to their decent side.

Islamists’ do not care what we think, so it really is about time we stopped caring about what they think.

“Kill them all and let God sort them out”

But seriously, that’s what you do. Bush had at right. You kill them where you find them and drain the sewers in which they are created and thrive.

      Harsh but the only way.

      • Damon Mudgway

We already have the legislation in this country to establish a prima facie case for the use of force.

        Crimes Act 1961
        Defence Against Assault

Section 48, Self-defence and defence of another

Every one is justified in using, in the defence of himself or herself or another, such force as, in the circumstances as he or she believes them to be, it is reasonable to use.

Section 48: replaced, on 1 January 1981, by section 2(1) of the Crimes Amendment Act 1980 (1980 No 63).

It’s right there in black and white.

        • Kevin

That’s fine if you want to take the terrorism is a criminal act path, as Clinton did, rather than terrorism is an act of war.

      • And you bury them smeared in pig fat … and let the others know that is what will happen to them.

  • Eiselmann

Oh no I’m so offended that WO has published that cartoon of baby Jesus, my Lord and Savour , its enough to make me shrug my shoulders and carry on with my day as normal…you just see if I don’t

  • reitama

And these murdering scumbags support the words of a man who at 54 consummated his marriage to a 9 year old…

    • Mrs_R

That act alone tells me everything I need to know about the man and his teaching and says much about his followers.

The gutless response by British politicians and spineless media to Nigel Farage’s comments is what’s wrong with Britain. They fall over themselves to appease Islam even when they are attacked, and then they have the audacity to attack people like Nigel Farage who speak for tens of millions of very concerned UK citizens.
Britain is the most gutless nation on this earth with the weakest, must obsequious sycophantic, quisling politicians who kowtow to Muslims rights above the citizens of Britain for fear of violence.
It is the British establishment, the BBC, our MSM, our universities, and ‘so called’ intelligentsia that are the enemies of the western world and our freedoms.
I really do hope Nigel Farage will one day become the British prime minister and start the process of integrate or forced repatriation to an Islamic country of their choice.
The whole of western Europe is a tinder box waiting to go off. No matter what atrocity these Muslim terrorists commit the left will defend or make excuses for it, most of the time blaming the right wing and Islamaphobia.
I am not an Islamaphobe. A phobia is an irrational fear of something. My fear of Islam is perfectly rational and I truly fear the spread of Islam in the west and truly fear for my three daughters who will one day have children. What will their futures be like if we do nothing now when we still can?

      Wow…

What a bigoted load of tripe.

I have many many work colleagues and friends from Iran, Iraq and other muslim countries. They and their families are all well integrated into NZ with kids who consider themselves kiwis and parents who are fine Drs and nurses.

The emigrated to NZ as they saw a better future for themselves and their families and to escape the violence and religious authoritarianism in their countries of birth.

      • IKIDUNOT

It shows you that also NZ has a long way to go before this discussion becomes somewhat balanced and not totally controlled by emotion.

  • Cambo

Be offended, get over it. Move on

  • Andru

I think there are two sides to this story and both have merit. I sympathise with Derek Fox’s point of view as well as WO’s. Waving a red flag in front of a bull is going to have predictable results – regardless of morals or the law.

To an aside, check out this hilarious cartoon. It is probably the most offensive religious image you’ll ever see. At The Onion:

I think a warning needs to go with the link. Strictly for adults not easily offended.

“if the attackers did turn out to be Islamist extremists”…well, they’re hardly biscuit-toting girl guides are they?
    If?
    If?
    Do me a favour.

Shouting “allahu snackbar” is normally a pretty decent giveaway.

      • I.M Bach

…whilst shooting a wounded police officer at point blank range, oh and I stand corrected; I thought it was ‘allahu nutbar’ :)

      • spanishbride

I want to invent a pork snack called Allah Snackbar just to annoy the little petals.

        • Andy

made from pork in a shape of a dog.

And this is why and this is the difference – especially verse 19. Romans 12:14-21
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”says the Lord.20 On the contrary:
    “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

There is now justification to use WMD on these bastards.
A nuke or two in northern Iraq and Syria would stop this nonsense.
Hit the leaders and the lower level idiots will wither away, espcially if they are removed back to their homelands.

This reminds me of a joke, The Muslim man said “his wife said he was a Pedophile, that’s a big word for a 9 year old” said the Muslim man.
