After all the negative comments about this site during
the ‘dirty politics’ publicity, I just had to have a peek.

Now I’m hooked.
Great stuff.

Thanks Peter.

Anyone that comes here with an open mind either leaves bored or gets hooked.   It’s only those that come here with an agenda that find reasons to justify their views.

It was curiosity that got me started, all those years ago – and I’m still well hooked.

  • James M

I think it was Cams troubles with the laws and name suppression that got me to take a peek.

I’ve been peeking for years now and WOBH is my most visited site by a mile

  • dgrogan

Same effect on me. I had a feeling WOBH had something for me when it was bagged by MSM. I was slow to the party, unfortunately.

  • FredFrog

Idly read a post when bored about a year ago. Got hooked and stayed hooked even through a ban.

  • Eiselmann

Same , saw Cam on the MSM during the name suppression issues and the narrative wasn’t nice…figured I’d have a look at what the fuss was all about and was pleasantly surprised. Do I agree with everything he posts…no and I wouldn’t use some of the terms he does when he does , then again none of us are drones (or bots as the lefties like to think of us), however I do find WO to be informative and here’s the thing…its honest, WO the persona and the blog is up front …you know what you are getting , if only a number of other media outlets were as honest .

  • Just a thought …

Yes I am also a WOBH tragic. If fact my wife now considers herself a Whaleoil widow ……

  • Sally

It was the Brown saga that got me hooked. There are times I don’t like what is being said but I have stayed because knowledge is king.

  • Jdogg

Had a heated debate with a staunch political family member (who is centre – far right) over reading this blog since the name suppression case and knowing the background to the dirty politics et al, saga. Unfortunately my debating skills failed and he is brainwashed by the Harold and TV. He has never read the blog so it was easy to see where his opinions were cultivated from (which I’ve found often the case).
My final challenge was to read it, before he judges.
I don’t agree with everything but the openess and honesty is refreshing and I prefer not to be spoon fed by one source!! Cheers WO’ers!

    • la la land

Yes – its interesting that despite the social inacceptability of following whaleoil and all the bad press the readership just keeps growing and growing.

  • la la land

I agree – it is now a pleasure to debate issues rather than just getting angry after being abused as happens on TV3 website and others.

    • Jdogg

That TV3 comments area is absolutely shocking at times, have never partaken purely for the fact that it seems to get personal and the debates are rarely intelligent enough beyond shouty abuse at each other!

      • Cadwallader

The TV3 site is a bit like a no-go area in Paris. The abuse borders on the violent and it definitely draws its nutrients from the same pits as the major leftie blogs. Then again, it is one!

  • 1951

I come here for the gossip too.

    • Cadwallader

      Humorous gossip!

  • kehua

Emerson is a washed up ,dated old hack, should have been dog tuckered years ago, only on life support for sentimental reasons I think.

  • Mikex

I came here to treat a runaway problem with rising blood pressure resulting from the one eyed, bent and biased reporting from the ideological hypocritical MSM.
I’m happy to say I found instant relief on this blog.

  • NotGandalf

I only come here for SB’s recipes, I didn’t know there was any politics discussed as well…. ;)

  • Cadwallader

I have unflagging admiration for the troop at WO and many of its commenters. I am keen to learn more about Freed from the point-of-view of whether or not it will be detrimental to this site. There is an openness (remember glasnost?) here which I trust will be present at Freed. Many years ago Lindsay Perigo’s “The Free Radical” had an unblinking defiance akin to what we have here. It was a great read but never did it produce the volume of opinions found at WO.The advent of a troop of managers and advisers here has staunched the development of a cult of personality around Cam which ought ensure this site and Freed will survive well into the future. Bless all those who sail on her!

Hooked, a year in April. :-)
