A Gay perspective on Islam

I have given this article the title  ‘A Gay perspective on Islam’, but after re  reading both the blog post quotes and the advertisement I realised that both have failed to link Sharia Law ( Which is Islam ) to the way homosexuals are treated in Palestine, Syria and Iran. It is this liberal failure to gloss over the root cause and to instead pretend it is a terrorist/autocratic thing that deeply concerns me. Why this fear to say what is so obvious? Saudi Arabia is held up as an almost perfect example of Islam and we all know how they treat women and gays.

The rights of LGBT people in Saudi Arabia are unrecognized. Homosexuality is frequently a taboo subject in Saudi Arabian society and is punished with imprisonment, fines, corporal punishment, capital punishment, whipping/flogging, and chemical castrations.

I think people are confused because they see Islam as a religion and separate from politics/government. It is the fact that religion and politics are the exact same thing in Islam that is the problem. The Islamic activists are very honest about this. They say Islam is Sharia and Sharia is Islam. Historically and now there is no shortage of hard evidence that this is the case, so why are the victims so afraid to name their oppressor? I think that the below advertisement is great but it is like the victim of child abuse speaking out against the social worker who placed them with the pedophile rather than speaking out against the pedophile who abused them.

Dec 23 2014

I expect to be attacked from two camps this week. The first, as usual, is the Israel haters who follow my trail on the internet like dogs in heat. The second is people who love Israel but who think homosexuality is Judaism’s greatest sin.

Both might find common cause to condemn a full page ad that my organization, This World: The Values Network, and Stand With US, have taken out in The New York Times this week.

The ad features a close friend of mine named Rennick proclaiming in a bold headline:
HAMAS, ISIS and Iran
kill gays like me.
My name is Rennick Remley. I’m a gay American. And I support Israel.

If I lived in Gaza or Israel’s neighboring states, I would be thrown in jail, mutilated or killed.

Though I am not Jewish, Israel is the only country in the Middle East where I can live without fear. I am free to adopt children, serve openly in the military, advocate for my community’s rights and be accepted as a human being.

I visited Israel and marched with thousands of people from around the globe in Jerusalem’s Gay Pride parade, and all were treated with dignity. The freedom I experienced made me feel at home.

That’s why I’m appalled that so many in the Western world – including the media, Hollywood, and self-proclaimed human rights activists – fail to hold terrorist organizations like Hamas and autocratic governments like Iran accountable for their persecution of LGBT communities.

Have you no decency?

Hamas calls homosexuals subhuman, accusing us of engaging in a “filthy practice” that is punishable by death.

It’s not an empty threat. Gay Palestinians have been tortured and killed. That’s why many gay Palestinian men risk their lives to cross the border and seek refuge in Israel.

If I lived in Iran, or under Hamas’ ideological cousin ISIS, chances are you’d be seeing my picture.

Not in this ad, but hanging from a crane in a public square. That’s a regular practice against gay men by the Iranian regime.

The only way for gays to avoid persecution in Iran is to undergo a forced sex change operation.

To those who scapegoat Israel while pretending to care about human rights yet remain silent about the oppression and violence Hamas, Iran and other Middle East countries inflict on the gay community:

Shame on you. You are letting them murder us, literally.

Your misguided actions ensure that LGBT people in the Middle East continue to live in hiding under constant threat of violent death.

It’s time to hold oppressive dictators and religious fanatics accountable for their homophobia and violence against LGBT communities.

As a nation that respects the rights and humanity of every citizen, Israel is a model for the rest of the region. Speak up for Israel. You don’t have to be Jewish to love the only democracy in the Middle East.

Join the fight for justice and human rights in the Middle East at shmuley.com, thisworld.com and StandWithUs.com.
In Israel, I am free.

Unfortunately not all Gay men and women understand the threat Islam poses to them. Possibly the most ironic photos on the internet today are these…

This poster sums up their confusion nicely…

Luckily not all in the Gay community are as ignorant or confused as my above examples.

Interesting, isn’t it, that the left-wing (long enamoured with Islam) is so silent on its treatment of women and gay people.

    Hypocrisy, thy name is left-wing.

    • Mark

This has been a “Canary” issue for me since I was a young man in the 80’s here.
I realised that as a gun owner who was under attack that the Gay activists were wanting a similar outcome to me.
A chance to be left alone to engage in consensual practices between adults.
I don’t think my good safe fun should be curtailed just because others consider it icky!
So I advocated for & voted for Homosexual law reform, hoping it might promote a view that would keep the Govt out of my bedroom & my gun safe, alas I was wrong.

    • Kevin

The answer is they hate America and by extension Israel more than they love their fellow gays and lesbians.

I bet everybody in those last few photos protesting against Israel were left-wing, anti-capitalism, anti-globalisation etc …

There’s a psychological name for it but what it is escapes me.

      • Another Middleagedwhiteguy

Probably the name is absolute unintelligible gibberish, because even the psychologists have trouble in understanding the condition !!

  • Rodger T

Platitude activists who are unable to think past their vacuous slogans.
It has long irritated me that these people so vocal on human rights issues are now silent on those very issues in the Middle East that they have previously demanded be addressed forthwith in the West.
The complete and utter lack of consistency is gobsmacking.

  • G-Man

I wonder if John ‘the screaming skull’ Minto has a comment on this…..oh so torn

  • intelligentes candida diva

I like the analogy of the child of abuse speaking out about the social worker who placed them with the paedophile rather than speaking out about the paedophile who abused them because that type of thinking is long standing and rife through msm

The last image says it all ……

    • Je Suis Charlie – Respect!!

Yep the dread locked Meme says it all. There are none so blind as those that will not see.

  • Je Suis Charlie – Respect!!

I note the lefty loonies apologists (minto and co) are still silent about ISIS Hamas and Islam. I guess they are happy to polute the world with their lies and BS but not now anything they say may be thrown back in their faces, except in their dirty backroom hideouts.

Not a lot of noise about govt snooping lately either in MSM. Sure a little window dressing but nothing with the venom of last year – perhaps they are staring to see it for the value and safety it provides. It sure seems like those with nothing to hide dont really care as long as it doesnt impact on their way of life – unlike the opposite possibility where “lone gunmen” could operate with impunity.

Perhaps the amount of violence done in the name of the “prophet” has them scratching their collective heads trying to find an angle they can exploit. God forbid we had an attack on our shores, but I’m guessing it would take an extreme action to get a few of them to lift their heads out of the sand and see the “islamic elephant in the room”. Even then I am guessing they would be apologising to the muslim community for forcing them to take such actions and treating the victims as deserving their fates. Somewhat against their normal way of thinking.

If as an example a woman dressed provocatively and was harassed (or worse) because she was “asking for it” or if women were forced to dress more conservatively to protect their virtue, the MSM and lefty outrage would be palpable. But when we non believers (and some believers) fail to conform to the current extreme Islamic thinking we are rightly targeted with the lefty loonies/ apologists and MSM finding ways to justify that position. We just need to look to the constant pressure on Israel for their actions to see this in action.

If your family was endangered because of the actions of a minority (home invasion) would you stand back and let it happen? What about your extended family, friends or neighbours? How about the street/suburb you live in? What about your community or town or city or country? If your answer is No then I don’t really want you as family or as a friend or neighbour, let alone as a fellow countryman. However know that if you needed me I’d be there for you because that was how I was raised even if I know you probably wouldnt do the same for me.

    • intelligentes candida diva

No I would not stand back and let it happen I would be “feral” I would help.

    • Mark

Watch the first person to fight back be condemned & pilloried not just from the left but universally as a Right wing, religious, racist, gun nut who reads WOBH

    • Bobb

Of course Minto and his ilk are silent about isis and Hamas. They are cowards and cowards NEVER call out anyone that might hurt them. Imagine the mess in their pants if a Muslim said Boo! them.

  • Eiselmann

I don’t have family but I do have a lot of really good friends , there are three who I’m closest to , one of those three is gay, known him for other 30 years he’s a great guy, you’d only have to be in his presence for a few seconds to realise he’s gay.
However he’s also a total petrol head knows more about cars than 99 percent of westies, he still plays rugby and I’ve seen him drop guys twice his size….I don’t care what goes on his bedroom he doesn’t care what goes on in mine…he’s a really good bloke and if this was an Islamic country he’d be dead…
If a center right pro military pro police, pro hardline justice system ,class traitor can see Islam is wrong why can’t a caring sharing leftie who’d march for gay and womens rights at the drop of a hat see the same thing I do.

  • Whitey

Islam is a religion with a very warped view of love.

  • Genevieve

    Wise words from Bill Maher.
“In 10 Muslim countries you can get the death penalty just for being gay. They chop heads off in the square in Mecca. Well, Mecca is their Vatican City. If they (Catholics) were chopping heads off gay people in Vatican City, wouldn’t there be a bigger outcry among the Liberals?”

Would T-shirt wearing Kevin Hague and his husband be welcomed to pray in a New Zealand Mosque?

The “Queer community” do not represent the majority of gays, lesbians and bisexuals.

It has been co-opted by people of an activist bent and convinced that they are a “speshal sneauxflayke.” Most probably aren’t even anything but straight – oh they might think just because they’re a bit mannish that means they identify as being dual gendered something or other. They are always be ready and willing to drop everything and go protest the latest thing without a single critical though process.

And many of those people very loudly opposed the marriage equality bill – on the reasoning that it’s just a cis, white, straight man’s institution – god forbid anyone should want to be one – and that no one would worry about their issues anymore. So they only support gay and lesbian rights when it suits them!!

So I’d just tell them to get a grip on reality and go away.

  • Priam

I must disagree with you Rennick. Homosexual practice is a ‘filthy act’ and, unrepented of will be punishable by death. Come, Lord Jesus.Rennick, repent, please.

  • Mick Ie

We have numerous gay MPs, some out of the closet and some standing inside with the doors partially opened. Where are their voices? Their silence is equivalent to the Muslims who are opposed to their own radicals but don’t speak out against them. They are silent enablers.

    • Adios Africa

These MPs know that fundamentalist Muslims do not vote, and neither do they hold themselves accountable to any law should this in any way conflict with the infallible revelations and Sharia law. For Muslims the concept of the nation-state is abhorrent.

How utterly disgusting, to associate Israel with sodomy.

How utterly disgusting and anti Semitic. The G-d of Israel HATES sodomites!

    Leviticus 20:13

If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

While you disgusting anti Semites are happy to spit on our Torah, know that it will not go unpunished. A mighty and Terrible G-d is the protector of that land, and those who defile it will incite His fury.

How utterly disgusting this article is, such a blasphemy.

  • Rafidah

How utterly disgusting, and stupid, to associate the Name of Israel with sodomy.

How utterly disgusting and anti Semitic.

    Leviticus 18:22

Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

    Leviticus 20:13

If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

While you closet anti Semites are happy to spit on our Torah, know that it will not go unpunished. A mighty and Terrible G-d is the protector of that land, and those who defile it will incite His fury.

    Nobody messes with the Jews.

If only they knew what HAMAS would do to Gays in Palestine.
In 2011 April there was a broadcast on Hamas’s Al-Aksa TV, which was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Syrian academic Muhammad Rateb al- Nabulsi said, “Homosexuality involves a filthy place, and does not generate offspring. Homosexuality leads to the destruction of the homosexual. That is why, brothers, homosexuality carries the death penalty.”
The Penalty for being Gay is DEATH! The same for ISIS and Saudi Arabia.
