    The item in the photo looks like a catadioptric (“mirror”) lens, which uses a system of mirrors to make an otherwise unwieldy long telephoto lens smaller.
    I reckon that ties in with the fifth item, regarding Titanic, and implying some scenes had to be shot with the assistance of mirrors.

    The markings are for a camera lens, but I don’t know the link.

    As an aside, as well as promising to rebuild Warsaw the Soviets also offered to build an underground railway or a concert hall. The local mayor consulted and it was agreed an underground was their choice. So after the war Warsaw hasda fine concert hall built as a gift from the USSR.

      We were told when there that all the buildings except one were built from plans, photos etc. The one that did not have any of these available was designed from a very old painting.

    Voigtlander is an optics company that was founded in 1756 in Vienna (link to one). It was a world leader in optics and lenses for many decades and was the FIRST company to manufacture, among other types, the “zoom lens”. It is the oldest name in Cameras and lenses.
