Dead Men Do Tell Tales

The Strange Case of Jeffrey Alan Lash

The mystery behind a Los Angeles gun fanatic?has deepened as his fianc?e’s family said he was an alien-hybrid secretly working for the government.

The bizarre statement came about as the betrothed woman’s lawyer identified the dead man as Jeffrey Alan Lash, after he was discovered rotting in his car parked on the street in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.

Los Angeles police found more than 1,200 guns, nearly 7 tons of ammunition, bows and arrows, knives, machetes and $230,000 in cash inside Lash’s home.

They also deployed a bomb squad and chemical experts in Hazmat suits to go through his vast arsenal of weapons and explosives, some chemicals were too unstable to transport, so the police blew them up.

They also discovered a Toyota SUV designed to drive underwater among the 14 vehicles registered in his name.

The collection was as odd as Lash’s confessions to his fianc?e Catherine Nebron that he was working as an undercover operative for multiple unnamed government agencies, according to her defense attorney Harland Braun.

“The story itself sounds totally crazy, but then how do you explain all this?” Braun said. “There’s no evidence he was a drug dealer or he stole these weapons, or had any criminal source of income, no stolen property, all the stuff you’d look for.”

On 17 July 2015, officers from the LA Police Department made the gruesome discovery of a deceased man inside a car parked on Palisades Drive in the Pacific Palisades region of the city. The investigation into the circumstances of the man?s final moments began and it didn?t take too long to establish the identity of the corpse.

His name was Jeffrey Alan Lash and at the time of his passing he was 60 years old and a local resident of the area. He lived with his long-time partner Catherine Nebron.

Further investigation led to some startling revelations about the life of the deceased. The state of the corpse when discovered was a good indicator that Lash had been dead for some time. It turned out that death occurred about two weeks before discovery but was not reported.

According to Nebron, Lash collapsed in a Santa Monica parking lot on 4 July and refused to sanction emergency assistance that was clearly required. Efforts to counter his condition did include dousing him with fresh ice but did not work.

Lash died shortly after. In accordance with his wishes, both Nebron and her employee, Dawn Vadbunker, placed Lash in his SUV and left for Oregon.

When Nebron returned she was stunned to see Lash?s body where she had previously left it. She called a high-profile criminal defence lawyer, Harland Braun, whose previous clients have included Dennis Rodman, Roseanne Barr, Gary Busey and Robert Blake, the actor eventually acquitted of murdering his wife in circumstances almost as bizarre as the Lash case.

Braun told the police about the body and warned them the house was stuffed with weapons. And the police immediately evacuated the neighbourhood.

The assumption was that Lash?s employer, said to be the Government, would retrieve the body.

Vadbunker opted to remain in Oregon without notifying her immediate family.

Vadbunker?s family were so concerned over this that they enlisted the Oxnard Police Department to launch a missing persons investigation.

Interested parties began uncovering more info about VadBunker, including an?odd letter?she wrote to her parents, in which the woman described her recent actions as having been for the good of the world. VadBunker’s mother, Laura VadBunker, corroborated existence of the hybrid story to the media, stating that the entire episode was “worse than a Twilight Zone movie.”

“He was part alien and part human and was out to save the world,”?Laura VadBunker added.

The more detectives delved into the case, the more bizarre things they discovered. A search of Lash?s home, one of several that he had, turned up a substantial cache of arms.

This arsenal of weapons was said to be worth around 5 million and consisted of over a 1,200 rifles, pistols and even bows and arrows. As well as the weapons, detectives also found $230,000 in cash, seven tons of ammunition and explosive-making materials, which he piled high in every room of the small condominium he shared with his fianc?e in a well-heeled hillside enclave high above the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles.

There was also the registration details for 14 vehicles, including one reported to be bullet-proof and worth around $100,000 also not forgetting the SUV he was found in. This SUV was an enigma in itself, apparently being custom modified for use underwater. Many of the other vehicles Lash owned were reportedly combat-ready.

VadBunker’s husband, Jim Curry,?said?the woman’s job entailed renting garages all over Southern California to store what he described as Lash’s dozens of vehicles. The story, Curry explained, was that Lash was CIA and had other agents who might need vehicles on a whim.

Lash?s death might have been a remarkable one but his life had the potential to prick the ears of any Hollywood executive. During his life, Lash would tell anyone that listened how he was an undercover agent for a secret Government Agency.

He would tell his neighbours the same thing. Lash would refer to himself using the alias ?Bob Smith?.

The Apartment Manager at his former residence would also describe how Lash always dressed himself in black clothing and would never enter a room without first having it checked. Lash also revealed some of his covert missions for this agency included night swimming to Catalina. He also admitted to a long spell in a coma as a direct result of a gunshot wound to his head.

Police said had late-stage cancer which he told his followers was ‘nerve gas poisoning’. Lash allegedly had trouble breathing but refused to be taken to a hospital and died. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Lash?s previous home was in Sunset Mesa and the property manager there did report that Lash?s health was diminishing rapidly and the simple act of negotiating stairs would often prove difficult for him. Even though the proper cause of death has yet to be determined, it is strongly believed to be a natural death and foul play is not really suspected. Given Lash?s apparent paranoia and the ongoing investigation, that could well change.

Another curious detail about the life of Jeffrey Alan Lash was the origins of his wealth. There are no reports of anyone ever seeing him during his employ, wherever that was. There was little doubt that he was independently wealthy and was never short of cash.

The young Lash had a modest upbringing and studied science at UCLA for a time before he dropped out. At his own request, UCLA kept his records private.

Although the source of Lash?s wealth has yet to be determined, there is no evidence that he was involved in any form of criminal activity. That could be the result of a careful control of facts or genuine innocence in that regard. On the face of it, there is likely only one way to amass wealth of that amount and that is diligent savings of money earned.

Lash?s property manager said that he was tempted to believe his CIA story due to all the money he had. Nebron?s attorney told the Associated Press that?there was no evidence that Lash was a drug dealer or had any source of criminal income.

Much of Lash?s life is shrouded in mystery and only came to light when it ended. Were it not for a claim made by Dawn Vadbunker then much of this might have stayed under the radar or been catalogued as eccentric. Lash had revealed to her that he was, in fact, an alien-human hybrid that was sent to Earth to assist humanity and to protect the world, Nebron later corroborated this statement.

Lash always insisted that he was a Government operative, but could this government be of extra-terrestrial descent?
