Silver is the new Blonde

I have had grey hair since my thirties and now in my forties I am pretty sick of being a slave to the dye bottle. Recently I discovered that grey hair is now in fashion thanks to some strange young starlets who have made it a new trend. It is hard to believe but some young women are now deliberately dying their youthful hair silver.

I think that it is madness but at least it helps remove the negative stereotype of silver hair on women.Men have always been told that they look great with grey hair, distinguished and handsome, while we women have been told that we look old. It is a cruel double standard that means that many of us spend time and money trying to make our hair look 20 when our face looks 40, 50 or 60+

There are many beautiful women who wear their hair in its natural shade of silver. Their hair has no nasty chemical dyes and is a lot healthier than dyed hair no matter how much product you put on it. There are also many other benefits of working with nature instead of against it.

So what are the benefits of rocking silver hair?

1. You will be saving time and money.

2. With a good cut it can look stunning.

3. It is a way of fighting back against a culture that is anti ageing in women.Think about all the anti ageing products aimed at women and not at men. It is time we learned to enjoy our age and enhance our natural beauty without trying to look younger than we are.

4. It can be the beginning of something new in your life

Cindy Joseph, a 60-something model, says her modeling career only took off once she accepted aging and went totally gray. Joseph has appeared in ads for Olay, Aveda and fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. “Celebrate silver,” Joseph told The New York Daily News. “I call it silver instead of gray, because gray has a negative connotation. Gray mood, gray day. But silver is considered very special and very valuable. So whatever shade of silver you have, call it silver.”
