Richard Cuthbert has been standing at the busy Greenlane and Great South Rd intersection every Saturday for more than a year with signs of protest against the Auckland mayor.

But now that Mr Brown has announced he doesn’t intent to stand in next year’s elections, Mr Cuthbert has decided to auction off his “Toot – Len Brown Sux” sign.

The listing closed at 9.15am [yesterday] and the winning bid was $260.

Mr Cuthbert said all proceeds will go to Women’s Refuge and he said he now had his Saturdays back and could start mowing his lawn.

Mr Cuthbert describes himself as the former spokesman for the Len Brown Stand Down group, but his description of the sign hints that not everybody agreed with his stance.

“It has drawn massive public response, both positive and negative. Noting the sign has been slightly damaged from an irate Len Brown supporter who threw three glass projectiles at me,”

I met Richard at another event where he had different sign at the time.  Took this photo myself.  Wonder if he’s selling that one too?
