A bully and a dickhead mayor assaults a reporter as he loses his rag

Peter Butler is a bully and a dickhead and yesterday he well over-stepped the mark:

Central Hawke’s Bay Mayor Peter Butler forcibly removed a Hawke’s Bay Today photographer from a council building this morning.

Photographer Duncan Brown, who has taken photographs for Hawke’s Bay Today for 30 years, was in the Waipawa building with a reporter chasing a story when Mr Butler spotted the media team and manhandled him.

He demanded Mr Brown and a reporter leave without giving an explanation as to why, and keep repeating “out”.

How ridiculous. Peter Butler should resign, he isn’t fit for purpose, and is a bully and a dickhead.

At least ratepayers get a chance to rinse him in a few months if he doesn’t quit or get forced out.

So what was the story they were chasing. Good that they turned up and didn’t just read the Council FaceBook page.

Given the other person in the photograph – see this article on HB Today

    and this article..

    One might draw conclusions….

    • Keeping Stock

It seems that things are far from healthy in local government in Waipawa. The mayor has done nothing to rebut the case of misfeasance being brought against his Council.

  • shykiwibloke

Sounds like the mayor wishes to invoke the Striesand effect.

    • biscuit barrel

Too late . A recent previous mayor of central hawkes bay went to jail- and he was a crooked lawyer.

No apology for assaulting photographer though-‘ I didnt touch him’

      • William Smith

So if you were in such a situation and you didn.t assault a MSM member you would apologise for assaulting him. Really?

  • William Smith

Wow Cameron. Even though you are aware that to take MSM at face value is unwise, you launch into an attack. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that no “assault” took place.

    • An assault did take place. He pushed the cameraman…and has now apologised for it.

  • Diehard

No problem telling reporters to get out. Gets my vote.
