Former army mechanic gets his knickers in a bunch

Ron Mark doesn’t really have the right temperament to even pretend to be the heir apparent to Winston Peters.

If his reaction in the House yesterday (4:02 in the video above) is anything to go by how on earth is he going to react to the news that Jonesy is going to make a comeback?

NZ First’s Ron Mark has been involved in another debating chamber spat, this time getting away with it despite calling another member a “lying little s***”.

An unidentified MP on the government benches interjected while Mr Mark was speaking on Wednesday night.

It wasn’t picked up on the microphones but Mr Mark heard it.

“I won’t be called a liar by that lying little s… over there,” he shouted.

Mr Mark apologised before being ordered to and Deputy Speaker Chester Borrows didn’t take any action against him.

He’s a serial offender and was last month ordered to apologise for calling Health Minister Jonathan Coleman a “lying prat”.

Dr Coleman had said Mr Mark, a former army officer, had been an army cook.

Jonathan Coleman was a bit harsh in calling Ron Mark ‘a fitter and turner’. The reality is that he was in charge of the motor pool before scoring a nice cushy job looking after motors for the Sultan of Brunei.

  • I wouldn’t put Ron Mark in charge of the bike shed. He’s a nasty little piece of gear.
Winston needs to take a long hard look at his team, although how he could ever have foreseen that any of these muppets could have got into parliament in the first place is beyond me.
If he had surely his list would have been a bit more robust instead of consisting of Kermit the Frog, Gonzo and Fozzy Bear?

I wonder how long before Shane Jones makes an appearance in the ranks of NZ First, with Mark at the helm the party would be doomed

      • duve

Sure, Shane Jones would be better than Ron Mark – but not by much.

  • Boondecker

And this character is the inheritor-in-chief of Winston First’s party? They will surely tank once people get a load of him when Peters eventually drifts off from parliament in a puff of cigarette smoke. Debasing the top court in the land the way he does does not bode well for him or that of their party.

    • Keeping Stock

Personally Boondecker, I think it’s more likely that Winston will simply vanish in a plume of single malt whisky fumes, and when that happens, it would be very dangerous to have a lit cigarette anywhere nearby!

Time for Bible verse for Ron – “Taming the Tongue”: 5 So it is with the tongue: small as it is, it can boast about great things. Just think how large a forest can be set on fire by a tiny flame! 6 And the tongue is like a fire. It is a world of wrong, occupying its place in our bodies and spreading evil through our whole being. It sets on fire the entire course of our existence with the fire that comes to it from hell itself.
James 3:5-6 Good News Translation (GNT)

It is time that Ron Mark had a think about taming his tongue.

He has to be the most childish, unlikeable and spiteful person in parliament, but I hope he is very successful and becomes leader of NZ First.

Such class. Just what we need from our Members of Parliament. Not

  • “Jonathan Coleman was a bit harsh in calling Ron Mark ‘a fitter and turner’, I’m offended, I started my working life as a Fitter and Turner.

  • Keanne Lawrence

He always manages to look stupid during question time as he struggles to follow his leader’s style. Seems he is even worse when he is speaking to a near empty chamber. It is proof positive that MMP has one vote too many that allow such low level loons to get on the payroll.

    • XCIA

He is stupid but the really stupid thing is that we, the taxpayers under the aberration that is MMP are compelled to pay for his terminal stupidity.

  • zotaccore

The Speaker was far too lenient. He should have removed him from the chamber, but not before naming him. But that’s ok, his behavior is on record and will be handy come next election where I hope someone will put out a compilation that demonstrates what a tool he is.

Have never rated Ron Mark that highly but listening to his debate found myself agreeing with his argument and recognised the double standards involved in the Bill being discussed.
