Two people have been shot within hours of the duck shooting season opening.

One man was shot in the eye and another shot in the wrist in separate incidents.

A rescue helicopter was called to Lismore near Ashburton after the first incident about 7.45am.

St John ambulance said a man in his 30s had suffered a wrist injury.

He was expected to be flown to Christchurch Hospital.

Police have been informed.

Fifteen minutes later, a man was shot in the eye in a duck shooting accident in the Tararua District.

I’m staying well clear of those inbred idiots by targeting quail and pheasant on private property.  Much safer that way.  I’m told there are at least 1000 quail, so even the 700 rounds I brought might not be enough.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
