Let’s hope the challenging integration doesn’t result in rape then

I really hope, for Justice Venning’s sake, that this scumbag doesn’t re-offend and rape some one.

It’s not a bet I’m willing to take, but judges do it all the time and often with dire consequences.

Prison bosses have failed to secure a public protection order against a violent convicted rapist, who’s been released from prison despite fears he will attack someone again.

Name suppression has lapsed for Clinton Jacob Wilson, who last year finished a 14-year jail sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl.

Last month Corrections went to the High Court seeking a public protection order against the 40-year-old, which would have been the first after a 2014 law change.

Wilson has convictions dating back to 1992, including theft, escaping police, armed robbery and what was described as a “mindless attack” on a group in a car where Wilson stabbed a man in the chest.

In 2001, Wilson had been out on parole for less than two weeks before he raped the 13-year-old and then, when he heard her father was looking for him, attacked him with a rake.

He was also convicted of assaulting Corrections officers while in prison.

So, Corrections are very, very concerned…but no worries, Justice Venning knows best.

After going over Wilson’s reports Justice Geoffrey Venning decided against issuing the order, which would have kept Wilson on prison grounds, in a secure facility separate from the main buildings.

Justice Venning said in his decision that Wilson wasn’t a high risk of serious violence on release from prison, unless he was in a confrontational situation.

“The violence that Mr Wilson becomes involved in arises in situations of conflict where he perceives he has been slighted or criticised.

“He reacts violently because he is not otherwise able to cope. The position is exacerbated if he has access to drugs or alcohol. If those situations are avoided, Mr Wilson will not be at risk of offending.”

Let’s see, this scumbag has to avoid drinking, drugs and people pissing him off…tick-tock, time bomb waiting to go off. I feel sorry for the next victim, because there will be a next victim.

However, the judge has agreed to grant an extended supervision order, which means Wilson must wear a GPS unit, have residential restrictions and be under intensive 24-hour monitoring for his first six months outside.

He will be tested to ensure he doesn’t drink alcohol or take drugs.

Justice Venning noted Wilson’s introduction to society would be challenging after nearly 20 years in prison.

That’s why he would be better locked up for good. Some people can never be rehabilitated.
