Face of the Day

Political correctness has caught up with another classic.

Domestic slave Mrs White is too embarrassing to have as part of the Cluedo game.  Apparently even dead bodies won’t want to be seen near a mere domestic goddess.

Board game enthusiasts will wonder if it was the candlestick in the library, or even the lead piping in the conservatory, but neither were behind the death of Mrs White.

The answer, in fact, is that the makers of famous board game Cluedo have simply decided the famous character is no longer up to date.

The housekeeper of Tudor Mansion has been replaced after more than 60 years as a suspect behind the murder of Dr Black.

Toy maker Hasbro is replacing her character with another female named Dr Orchid, who was revealed to be the adopted daughter of victim Dr Black.

A biologist with a PhD in plant toxicology, she was privately educated in Switzerland until her expulsion after an incident involving daffodils resulted in a near-fatal poisoning.

In a Machiavellian twist, it also transpired that after her expulsion from private school, Dr Orchid was educated at home, by none other than the character she was destined to replace: Mrs White.

According to Hasbro’s statement, Dr Orchid had decided that biology was her future and while researching for a PhD in plant toxicology, unearthed a plant of incredible medicinal properties, which she chose not to share with anyone, especially her adoptive father.

As for who exactly took the decision to see Mrs White off, it is unclear, but Hasbro opted for a press release as the method to dispatch her.

When it came to motive however, it was clear that sign of the times was the aggravating factor, with a desire to break away from gender stereotypes and an attempt to inject some life into an ailing brand.
