It is a 64- 36 split so the majority of our readers are over 55.

My second prediction was a 70-30 split between men and women. I was wrong, as the split is actually almost exactly 80-20.

I was curious about sexual identity but only because we have been accused of being homophobic by critics. Having gay readers isn’t proof that we are not homophobic of course but it is reasonable to assume that our strong lobbying for Gay marriage may have attracted some interest. In reality a person’s political views have nothing to do with their sexual identity. Milo Yiannopoulos is a strong supporter of Trump and conservative and libertarian viewpoints.

So where do Whaleoil readers live? It turns out that like most of New Zealand’s population they live in the North Island.
