When will Nigel Haworth raise funds for Labour?

Labour remain dead-set useless because they cannot raise the money required to fund a proper three-year-long election campaign. Their president, Nigel Haworth, has not raised a cent.

While the centenary offers plenty of chances for reflection, Labour’s president Nigel Haworth is focused on the future.

He believed the party had turned the corner.

“I think it would be wrong to pretend that we didn’t have some years of interesting internal debate, that’s now changed.

“We have a unified caucus around a leader who has the absolute confidence of caucus – we have a party that’s growing both in terms of numbers and resources, that is much more organised around winning and victory.”

Nigel Haworth has been a disaster as president. Labour are so broke they cannot afford to poll as a proper political party does. They have no money, no big donors and no fundraising operation.

Haworth’s abject failure as a fundraiser is a huge problem for NZ democracy because without money Labour cannot compete, and our democracy requires an effective opposition. Labour should be asking Haworth to either raise money or do the honourable thing and resign.
