Subject: Letter to the Editor HKY paper

I had a call today from a resident in Hokitika who was told by a former farmer with political aspirations whaling on that Council staff were accumulating information to use in a personal grievance case if I became Mayor.

Funny thing is the same thing was said on an Auckland blog a few weeks ago.

Now politics can make desperate people say desperate things. I hold on file legal advice confirming that any grievance can only be between an employee and an employer and in the Councils case the only employee employed by Council is the Chief executive. The staff are employed by the CE and responsible to her for performance as she is to the Council.

The operative timing for any future dispute is from when a person becomes the Mayor on the 8th of Oct and the test is their actions from that date. Based on this a PG is not possible as there is no privaty of contract before one is elected.

The same fellow told the same resident that my views on Councils planning performance would allow the notified consent on the top end of Davie street to be forced through by a Council led by me.

My position on this is that the consent should have been notified in a more timely manner by the present Council and not delayed as it was and it must follow the process set out under the RMA.

So my call is by all means pull the odd tit but remember when you get caught out as you have been its a bit embarrassing.

Whaling on.  Very good.  May I also suggest: Dirty Politics and toxic for the next presser?

Auckland bashing, always good for a politician on the Coast.

A prospective mayor who wants to follow the RMA to the letter?  No so popular on the Coast.

As for pulling tits, what is “privaty of Contract”?  Even the mighty Google couldn’t help me out.
