The origin of “cock tax”

Yesterday in court Colin Craig read one of my posts about him having to probably pay a lot of “cock tax“.

Everyone laughed…but I was asked afterwards by a few people what the term meant and where the term came from.

I can’t claim to have invented the term, but I can claim to have used it extensively.

Bond said, ‘But what sort of a chap is this Tanaka? Is he your enemy or your friend?’

‘Both. More of a friend probably. At least I’d guess so. I amuse him. His CIA pals don’t. He loosens up with me. We’ve got things in common. We share a pleasure in the delights of samsara – wine and women. He’s a great cocks-man. I also have ambitions in that direction. I’ve managed to keep him out of two marriages. Trouble with Tiger is he always wants to marry ’em. He’s paying cock-tax, that’s alimony in the Australian vernacular, to three already.

So it is from James Bond and Ian Fleming. He is the one to take the claim of inventing the term cock tax, at least in a popular forum.

Colin Craig also read another post…in that one, I called him a political retard.

That one is all my invention.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.
