Bill Liu arrested in China

Bill Liu has been arrested in China.

A controversial Chinese businessman who has been living in New Zealand for more than a decade has been arrested upon his return to China.

William Yan, also known as Bill Liu and Yang Liu, was detained after arriving at Capital International Airport in Beijing on Saturday, according to the Government-run press agency Xinhua.

The press agency reported Yan, 47, fled China in 2001 after being charged with embezzlement, and was number five on China’s top 100 fugitives list.

It said he returned to China to turn himself in after “hiding” in Australia and New Zealand since November 2001.

Many MPs in Labour died in a ditch for Bill Liu.

I suspect this will be the last we see of him.
