The Conservative Party answers some hard questions

Last week I asked Kevin Stitt the Party Secretary some hard questions about the Conservative Party. Below are my questions and his answers in full and un-edited.

Question:

Are you able to confirm for our readers that Leighton Baker is the new leader of the Conservative party and is not keeping the seat warm for ex-leader Colin Craig who still claims to be the leader on his facebook page?

Answer:

Absolutely. Actually, I think you will find that it is his twitter account that still claims that, not his facebook account. He does not know how to sign into or use his twitter account as that was controlled by his previous Press Secretary. It appears the account has been hacked. We are working on having it removed from Twitter. Thanks for making us aware of this.

Question:

Which electorates does the Conservative Party intend to stand in this election?

Answer:

We do intend to stand candidates in a number of electorates but at this point, we have not made any decisions on which ones.

Question:

Can the Conservative party afford to finance a campaign this year without the financial support of former leader Colin Craig?

Answer:

Yes.

Question:

Has the Conservative committee considered a name change for the party?

Answer:

Yes we have, but the Party and its principles remain the same despite the actions of one man, so we have felt to retain the name.

Question:

Does ex-leader Colin Craig still have influence over and input into decisions made by the party and is he still a member?

Answer:

Colin Craig has no influence whatsoever into decisions made by the Party and he resigned from membership in October last year.

Question:

Is the party prepared to publicly distance itself from former leader Colin Craig in order to move forward without the baggage of his court cases and HRC settlement?

Answer:

Colin Craig, as publicly stated in October last year, is no longer a member of the Party. We have an excellent new leader in Leighton Baker, and we are moving forward.

Question:

Does the Conservative party still have its headquarters in the offices located at 5 Triton drive Albany which is owned or controlled by Colin Craig?

Answer:

If you look at the authorisation statement on our website you will see that our address has changed. The office has moved.
