Faces of the Day

You can’t hit a home run every day.  So here it goes.

After three months missing, a south Auckland cat called Louis returned home on Monday.

The “talkative” two-year-old tabby was found roaming Puhinui cemetery, around 500m and across the highway from his Papatoetoe home.

Louis’ owner Brendan Talbot, 30, said he’d put out ‘Missing Cat’ posters and made pleas on various websites in a bid to locate his pet.

Louis had been gone since December 12, and Talbot reckons he spent most of the summer in the cemetery.

Talbot believes the cat wandered across the motorway and was too spooked to make the return journey.

“He’s a bit of a sook, not really a hunter, so I’m surprised he’s in such good condition,” he said.

“I’d heard he’d been hanging around the buildings in the graveyard – he is a very friendly cat – and was eventually caught by workers there, who took him to the vet”.
