Troughers trough

On February 27 we blogged on the expenses of MPs.

Someone like Tracey Martin, from NZ First, costs the taxpayer around $310,000 per annum.

  • $150,000 salary.
  • $48,000 Wellington accommodation.
  • $4,000 outside Wellington accommodation.
  • $111,000 in travel expenses.

Let alone expenses with support staff, etc.

This is also the person who double-dipped on ratepayers for $70,000 in 2010-11.

But it is all okay – because on her current trip to Brussels she paid for a lunch herself:

Nice work if you can get it.

We, as taxpayers, are also likely paying for her roaming costs and wifi connections so she can upload these messages for the 232 viewers she is garnering from her social updates.

Troughers always know how to find a bigger trough to snuffle at.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story.  And when he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet.   Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet, and as a result he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist that takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him.  But you can’t ignore him.
