Craig v Slater Rest Day – media roundup

Even though there was no court day for this case yesterday, the media made do by republishing articles from the day before.  So there was no new material to talk about even though they did cover older parts of the trial.

Today court starts at 9:30 and Rachel MacGregor will take the stand again as Colin Craig resumes his cross examination of her.  This should be the last day that the court will hear testimony.

Readers won’t know that Ms MacGreggor faces the judge and does not look at Craig.  She also provides answers to the judge as if he was the one asking the questions.

Mr Craig has been encouraged to be more focused with his questions by the court.  Previous observations of Mr Craig would indicate that he will do what he feels he needs to do and won’t take advice.

When Mr Craig is finished, Mr Henry will get a chance to redirect and then I expect the judge to spend some time with Rachel to nut out the nitty gritty where Mr Craig, as  lay person, has not directed her to provide the answers the court needs.

It may not fill a whole day.  For Rachel’s sake, I hope so.

The general expectation is that summing up will be on Wednesday and Thursday and then case will be over.

The actual judgement will probably be four to eight weeks later.

Long wait after all that stress.
